Well I went to my local dealer to order my weather stripping to get rid of the howl in my 2012. A Tacoma caught my eye a 2017 double cab in orange 4x4. I talked to the salesman and they offered 25k trade in for my truck. It's paid off. The trucks sticker price is 38k. Would any of y'all get rid of a second gen for a third gen?

No way! Not until Toyota gets its act right with the 3rd gen. Too many issues and problems.

I think the question is would you get rid of a second gen for third.

    I did, no ragrets!

I've put so much work into my second gen. The lift, bumper, tires, and I know it inside and out. It's hard to part ways but it's a good looking truck but I'm not a fan of the 3.5

You're not in a hurry, the value on your 2nd gen will stay relatively steady. I say ride it out, wait for Toyota to work out the kinks of the 3rd gen then look to upgrade when it makes sense. Enjoy not having a car payment. If you really want to be proactive... Throw a couple hundred bucks extra into savings and when you are ready to upgrade you'll have the new truck paid off too

Any sunroof can leak. It's a hole cut in the roof. Most of the time it's usually just a clogged drain tube. But shit happens. Don't let this 2nd gen haters scare you off

I love this tomwil guy. Spends all his time in the 3rd gen section bashing on 3rd gens and doesn't even own one. Some people just don't have anything better to do I guess.
OP, I went from a 2 to a 3rd. The 3rd is an upgrade IMO, but if your tuck is paid off it's not that much of an upgrade, unless you have money to burn.

Half the links aren't even about real leaks. He didn't even read the posts. Most were just concerns about a little bit of water in the drain pan... Which is normal. Again any vehicle with a sunroof can leak. And every auto manufacture that's had vehicles with sunroofs have had leaks. Most of the time the drains get clogged. Sometimes they just need adjusted. Other times a seal or something fails. Also lots of metal roofs that leak too. I think the trolls need to go back to the 2nd gen forum

Yours and probably 100k other 3rd gens. If you have a leak down the road, be sure you check the drain holes and tubes. Or you can just come on the forum and post how big a piece of crap your truck is and it's all Toyotas fault you park under trees or something. lol
