Most people tuck it in along the weather striping on the a-pillar and then run it into the engine bay. Since it's black, it doesn't look like a wire is there. I wanted a roof mounted LED bar for a while, but decided on flush bumper one. Just pulled the trigger last night on a 32".

Cool, thanks! Which one did you get? There are so many choices. We've reviewed this one on another thread. When the time comes this is what I am looking at:

MICTUNING 32 Inch 180W Combo Led Light Bar - 13200 Lumen, 6000-6200K Crystal White, Waterproof for Off-road Jeep ATV UTV SUV Truck Boat https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CLHGGVC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-yEDAb80YNBCR

But they have wider versions and since I plan on tieing into my high beam circuit I have to wonder if the roof is the better choice for a wider beam. I could go bumper and then add ditch lights but if I can kill two birds by going roof, it might be the way I go.

I got the 5d auxbeam version. It's just the newer version that focuses the light better down range. You get less flood, but if it's in your bumper that blocks a lot of the flood anyways. I will probably get some auxbeam ditch lights later down the road too. As for wider beam you will want to get the curved light bar. Won't throw as far down as a focused straight, but definitely light up the sides more.

I think mictuning/auxbeam, etc all come from the same supplier but are branded differently. Caliraised looks like they use the exact same thing, but sell it for more than double. They might do more quality control when it arrives at their warehouse, but it's obviously the same company that makes them all from china.

I also got the ch4x4 OEM style switch.

Very nice! Yea, most likely as you say, all from the same factory.

Seems behind the lower grill is the preferred mounting location. A bud on here brought up a good point to consider about that. Said it makes it hard to clean the light lens. Makes sense to me. I have a pressure washer I use though to clean the truck so likely not that much of an issue for me. I do like the stealthy custom look of it there.

I plan on just jumping the wiring into the high beam circuit so no switch needed for me.

I plan on replacing my fogs, highs and lows with some Hikari Leds too so that might be enough throw if I decide to go rooftop mounted curve. I like that Baja look a lot.

So many choices, so little money. LOL

I wouldn't do the LEDs in low, your throw is greatly reduced. I posted a picture of my lows (35w HID) and another guy did the same shot with his LED lows and you could see that his went out maybe 1/2 the distance of my HIDS. LED in high beams can't hurt though since you're just trying to brighten everything else up.

I almost pulled the trigger on the auxbeam 50" straight light bar for the roof, but some angles...I just didn't like how it looked on our trucks. Like these shots, I'm kinda meh about.

I really do like it though when they're integrated into a roof rack though. This is a local 3rd gen, don't think he posts here or not. But those 35s man...goals lol.

I'm not opposed to the roof mount at all. I think the curved is a better look than straight though.

We have a pretty active thread on here about LEDs in all three and the results with the new generation of bulbs have been really positive.

Here are some shots from @Parker315

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/led-lighting-conversion.436865/page-62#post-16989585

Then another member, @BlazingTaco18 posted up his results here

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/led-lighting-conversion.436865/page-68#post-17028157

I think the tech changes in leaps and bounds and at one time LEDs weren't even usable in the projector beam halogen housings. That's all changed now.

HIDs are still crazy bright and still widely used and liked, but now LEDs are major players too.

    Just my .02

So that member and I compared his new LED with my standard HID using the same angle.

    Here's his new LED lights
    [IMG]
    and my HIDs/halogen amber fogs
    [IMG]

He is running LED fogs, so its brighter down low whereas I'm running just amber fogs. But everything past the fogs you can see how much brighter it is and how well lit the fence is in my shot compared to his, which is barely lit up. I looked at his old LED light and the newer ones are definitely better, but still nowhere near a HID kit. The thing is that good LED bulbs cost more than my HID kit as well!

The new LED kits are $90. How much and what brand are your HIDs? I'm really not opposed to HIDs. You should come over and offer some rebuttal. My goal is like everyone else, to have best product available providing the most light for the least amount of money.

I'm actually looking at replacement housings by OEMassive but their description is a little wacked out. Says it's a HID kit with specs but also says no bulbs.

Either way I'm ready to be enlightened.

I like those new OEMassive lights too and around $450 that’s not terrible.

Only issue I have is that they aren’t too clear on the bulbs. It does look like it doesn’t come with bulbs and you have to add an H7 bulb. I was under the impression these cane with non-replaceable bulbs which I hated cause I don’t like that OEM halogen yellow colors. Knowing they are replaceable is nice, but then again why couldn’t they keep the H11 bulb so I could use all the LED bulbs I have already. So now on top of a $450 headlight set I have to buy all new H7 LED bulbs.
