Can't seem to get a straight answer from Toyota on how bad the airco blower issue is.

My fan destroyed itself just as we hit the 100's and the parts are of course not available. Was expecting to see a recent thread with more folks having this issue during the heatwave.

Parts won't be in until 21st at earliest... maybe later.. (almost guaranteed)

Dealer of course called it drivable and I objected as driving in the 90's without air-co is not what I am paying for a new truck for.

Now just discussions about why putting me in a crayola won't work. (My truck is used to transport my bikes)

Anyone have a link to data on just how bad this is?

My 07 blower was starting to go which is why I traded it in. Being in FL, I feel your pain man.

Well it wasn't just the blower that was going out. Was having some other electrical issues. It was all paid off and I got 12k for it so that wasn't too bad.

I feel your pain but it is not a common issue. Sure, there have been a dozen or so threads on it but not a thousand and certainly not 250K failures, which is the Tacoma annual production.
Sucks I know but it is not a daily problem. Good luck.

I bet driving that wax crayon around in that 90 deg heat would be interesting.

So you refuse to drive your truck, then refuse a rental... Where are we at then?

My 84 had 55/2 AC! 55 miles per hour and two windows open! Now I'm spoiled with my Gen 3 blowing ice cubes in my face so if mine broke I'd be crying like a schoolgirl too!

Pull your fan (three small bolts) and see how bad the fan is damaged. Chances are you can use some glue and tie-wraps to make it work until
    the replacement fan arrives.

The blower fan in my wifes 2011 Sienna started making terrible noises a few years ago and we bought one off Amazon have not had a problem since. Plus I was out of state working and it was so easy to install she did it herself.

Nope objected to being stuck in a Crayola when I need a truck to be able to move my motorcycles around. The whole purpose of purchasing a truck was to chase and rescue bikes in the desert. Couldn't see a Crayola or other small car handling that well. To give the dealer credit they got me a rental truck with 4x4.

Toyota had a multi week delay on parts due to excessive demand. I suspect that was as much to do with the heat as the part but still it was clearly a common enough issue to run out of parts. Toyota paid for the repair though. Just got the truck back and it has air again :)

I can produce a quick run of 10, for those interested. Instead of a c clip, they will be bolt on and made from 3/16 mild steel. Extra if you want it made from inconel/hastelloy/chronin, but will then be able to handle the excessive boost pressures. Also they will weigh like 4 pounds but they won’t break so that’s a plus.

No way. I’m hella boutique, I make sprint runs, and whoever gets one, gets one. I have a short attention span and a wild imagination. Tomorrow I could be fabricating tactical tea kettles. It’s hard to pin me down bro.
