any gas mileage differences? just curious. I'm thinking of going 255/75/17 after my 265/70/17's are done.

For 3 lbs difference I would go for the inch taller with extra plies. The weight is all in the sidewall I bet, with the armor tek belts.

That's the same size (height) as the stock 265/70r16 but 1/3" narrower. You wouldn't regear with the factory size.

No mileage change that I noticed, I don't keep accurate records to compare.

I stand corrected. But those are only an inch bigger. 3-4" and it's regear time.

Not sure if you saw that it is a 2.7L and the tire weight difference is roughly 14 pounds more per tire.

    A 235/85r16 is taller and narrower than a 265/75r16.

Yeah and 265/75r16 isn't a stock size. And going narrower never meant needing a regear.

    Nevermind, moving on

I think its more of concern with the 2.7. The 3.5 should push a 1" bigger tire with out to much trouble. I believe stock size is 265/70/16 or 17 depending on which model you get

Both the 235/85/16 and 255/85/16 should fit a 7" wide wheel. When you decide on tire you should check that specific tire specs to make sure, but from a quick check on a couple tires you should be just fine.

Folks have been fitting 255s on stock trucks but you need to look at your new wheels. Depending on the backspacing and offset of the wheels, you might have some rubbing. It looks like those wheels have a positive offset, you might rub on the UCAs. If they do, you could remedy the problem with a spacer.
235s would be an easier fit because they are a 32” tire.
