Hey anyone got heated mirrors? Is it something I can add from anothe truck? Mirrors were fogged whole way to work, hate wiping them, always smears the shit out if them. Thanks.

 

I've got them on my 18 Limited, I know I put heated / power mirrors on my 06 Chevy that had non power / heated but the pigtails were tucked behind the panels. Not sure if it's the same...

 

There's kits you can buy for sure. There's someone here on TW that makes and sells them. Can't remember where or who, but I know I've seen it.

 

I'm originally from the shore, and bought a house in Collinsville/Canton about 3 years ago with my wife. Never had to worry about bears on the shore, and I'll admit that I was a bit scared of the prospect of bears since moving up here.

We did a road trip to FL this past August, stopping at Shenandoah NP and Great Smokey Mountain NP on the way. While driving through Shenandoah, we happened to stop at a visitor station as a ranger was giving a presentation on Black Bears. Quite some crazy data he gave us; when the park opened, they have all of 2 bears. Due to conversation efforts, that has since increased to approximately 2 bears per acre. He explained, if you hike in Shenandoah, you will come across a bear. He gave us suggestions, such as don't feed them (obviously so they don't learn to associate food with humans), but also to remain calm, don't run, slowly walk back while facing them, etc.

Thank god we stayed for that little presentation on what to do/what not to do during a bear encounter. A couple hours later, we decided to take a hike. About two miles in, I turned a corner and there was a decent sized bear, no more than 4 feet in front of me. He acknowledged me, even followed me as I slowly walked back for a couple steps. I'll admit I was puckered, ready to grab my bear mace. After two steps, he wanted nothing to do with me, and simply walked away. The don't want anything to do with us as much as we want nothing to do with them.

Since that encounter, I feel much safer but do understand there are outliers and stuff happens sometimes. Its all about using common sense, and having a healthy respect for these guys. Be thankful we only have black bears out here and not grizzlies...

 

I probably still would have shit my pants and panicked. DANG!

From experience...that is a bear. Put a strap around the lid of the can...get a 10mm for when it enters the house

 

Yeah... my neighbor said his trash can was knocked over that day as well, and on a fear nearby streets there has been some bear sightings. I'll snap pics of the paw prints on my back patio anyway, so everyone can see them.

 

Is that in your garage? If so, this is why we need a bear season. They have no inheriant fear of people...which is bad for both species

 

Nope, not the garage. But it's my back patio that comes right up to the rear sliding door.

Move the trash can into the garage on non trash days and remove any bird feeder.

I got 1 too...I like them, as long as I'm not to close and it's not with Cubs these bear are not a threat.
If I yell at the top of my lungs they run fast! It's quite funny.
If you don't want them around you need to get rid of their food sorce, which includes all your neighbors too.
Myself on the other hand throw a chunk of meat out for them once in awhile. It keeps my neighbors inside!
