    Hello,

Recently my Toyota dealership contacted me about sending my clutch pedal to the factory for R&D. I hesitated but agreed as it was supposed to be made convenient for me.

I go to pick up the truck and the first thing I notice is that the clutch pedal has zero "play" to it. Then I press down, it feels strange and sticks to the floor before popping back. I mention this to the techs who get in and test it and they say it is definitely sticking too much and I should leave it hear for analysis.

I get a text the next morning that the shop foreman and head mechanic have looked at it and that is is fine and I can pick up the truck.

How could that be the case if it was sticking earlier? Any advice? I am SUPER bummed because I loved the clutch and transmission before bringing it in.

Does your clutch pedal have about a half inch of play?

    PJ

Have you picked it back up yet? They might have had to bleed the clutch master cylinder to get the pedal to return normally...I had this issue with my 04 after getting the clutch replaced and that's how it got fixed.

There is a link around here somewhere for the 3rd Gen service manual. It explains how to set the free play. It isn't a hard procedure, just a tight space, which leads to the issues that you are having when the shop mechs try to do it all too quickly.

It has been posted many times that dealers screw up the clutch pedal after doing anything with it.

Regarding your thread title, if you want a transformed clutch, get the ECU TSB and the accumulator delete:

hmm, well when you go to pick it up be sure that it is fixed, don't leave the lot until you drive around it a bit first...maybe even have a tech ride along if they are willing to. I would be surprised if they didn't do anything to it at all, unless for some reason it didn't stick when they tested it.

Mine had problems sticking and it would come up 95% of the way and I'd have to use the end of my shoe to bring it back up the rest of the way after every shift....was annoying as hell. Bleeding the system fixed it
