I recently traded my 2013 TRD Sport DCLB for a 2019 TRD Sport DCLB. In 2019, Toyota did away with the larger storage compartment on the left-hand side of the bed. Does anyone know if that part can be retrofitted or has anyone actually installed one in the new 2019 Tacoma bed?

I thought about trying to purchase the part from Toyota if sold separately or going to a pick and pull to get one and cutting it in myself.

While you are adding in the compartment get a Toyota Bed Mat.

    ^ This! Thanks for sharing.

So far the only things I don’t like are loss of storage compartments compared to the 2013, and the lack of bottom end below 3500rpm that everyone talks about. Not a deal breaker for me though.

A bed mat and door sill protectors are first on the list. Then an A.R.E. shell, and holy s*** they went up!

Get a tonneau cover and turn the whole bed into storage?

I’ve already got a shell on order. That’s where I kept tie downs and other tools to keep them from rolling around in the bed.

I know right, and they want over $400 for the box and lid. Toyota should do a rebate or a discounted package price for the 2019 owners lol

Mildly annoying that they removed it for 2019 but at least they’re bringing it back for 2020. All the good that does me.
I’m curious how good the bed lights will be, though they look kind of out of place.

I know...I'm going to pick one up myself at some point. Here is the part number(s): Storage Box - Toyota (64742-04010) and Box Cover - Toyota (64074-04011)

I might not have the right box cover in my previous post.

I would not be certain that they are adding it back, that is a preproduction model and is possibly based off a 2018.

I suppose that is totally possible. Wouldn’t be Toyota if they didn’t do something slightly silly to get someone’s hopes up, right?

holy shit, 260 ish, no thank you. Thats ridiculous. I used to put my trailer hitch drop mount and ball in there, for that price, I'll just leave it in the garage. Come to think of it, maybe I'll start looking at the local wrecking yards where one is totaled in the rear.

They save quite a bit of money by eliminating that cubby when you multiply that by 250k trucks.
