Oh boy... the MT guys will be descending shortly. What are you expecting (same engine, same HP, same Tq)... not going to be any significant difference outside of gear control.

I had a 2016 Tacoma with auto, but got rid of it for different reasons. I fell into a manual t. The auto seemed like it just shifted all the time.

You have the Or so it's geared lower. Should help with starting off with heavy pulls. Other than that it's just the stereotypical stuff of towing MT vs AT

I was more so just refferencing in comparison to the AT. Meant to put MT, not OR. But yes. The 4.3 vs the 3.9

Manuals don’t have a trans cooler. They don’t generate the heat an auto does.

I’ve towed thousands of miles with mine at this point. Towing with the auto sucks major ass. The tall gears mean you are usually running 3rd or 4th gear and the motor is screaming.

The manual tows really well. I can usually get to 5th and cruise there unless I’m out in the mountains. I average 14-15 mpg with the manual where as my auto got 10 towing the same thing. Reverse sucks but I’ll usually avoid backing if I can or I’ll flip to 4lo if I have a lot of weight.

Assuming you have 4wd, you can do the 2Lo mod for reversing. It's a bit tedious to switch it on, but I do when maneuvering backward up a hill with heavy trailer (in my auto).

(Those are Original instructions were for harness cut version. Connectors to build your own plug and play version have been identified. A 100% plug and play version is in work, but has not hit the street yet)

My 17 manual trans pulls great.... looking at getting a camper but can’t settle on one yet.... pulls the enclosed packed with 3 dirtbikes and weekend worth of gear no issues! Just didn’t use it this trip bc 4 grown men in taco cab for 250 miles isn’t to comfy

Be interesting to see what you pick. Right now I'm debating between the Apex Nano 208BHS (4000#) vs. the 245BHS (4600#). The 245 offers some really nice upgrades over the 208 for not much more in price (couple thousand $$ looks like), but wondering if that is going to be pushing our trucks a bit too much with the extra weight. Though I've seen people in the towing and RV thread who have similar sized ones or larger... I think having the MT will help that somewhat at least.

You gotta pick that one that works best with the Anal RV game. The winner for the last round was the Anal Zinger:
