So I had my 2017 Tacoma for almost 2 years now. Have 85K Km on here and never an issue.

Yesterday I went to fill some gas and when I tried to close the door, it wouldn't fit. Seems it got bent some how and I have no idea how to fix it.

Drove home with the door open and felt like a tool.

Any idea whats wrong, or a possible fix. Don't wanna get it dry at the dealership.

There were some people on here commenting that the hinges get gunked up with road debris and it pinches the hinges, causing them to bend when forced shut. I'll see if I can find the link. I think cost was about $300 for dealer to fix but you can probably fix it yourself much cheaper,. Don't use WD40 to lube the hinges because it'll gunk up worse over time. Use a dry spray.

I just quickly glanced, but these seem to be the most common issues.

I add a few small shots of fluid film on mine once in a while. Catches some grime yeah, but its thick stuff so it also retains its 'lubing' properties too

Apparently this is pretty common. When I bought my truck I opened the fuel door and it wouldn't shut so they had the body shop repair it before I took it home. It has since happened again and I just bend it back a little bit. It resists, but it shuts. I've read about others on here having the same issue

Judging by your Truck year, I'm assuming they haven't changed the design in a while.

Spray with Tri-flow. I'm no longer a fan of Fluid Film

In the same boat- 2017 with 36k on it; I just drive back an’ forth to work - don’t abuse it at all. Dealer threw out every excuse in the book as to how “somebody” bent it Toyota “service” leaves a lot to be desired in B.C. - a “hinge” shouldn’t need to bend to open and close. Has got progressively worse and today after the service idiot forced it open the paint has failed Even preemptively lubed the thing.
