Yes, you can't avoid the dust. But its a lot less concentrated up higher. There was a member that posted his air box full of dirt, rocks, and crap. I think its more to do with the crap that gets kicked up by your wheels into your wheel well which is where the stock intake pulls its air

ARB/Safari has an article on their site about how doing that at speeds over 40mph hinders proper airflow to the engine, something about the vacuum being created from the pull from the engine and the head facing opposite of the airflow. I'll see if I can find it. They only recommend doing that if you're traveling slow on a trail and want to avoid things going right into the intake

ARB suggests doing it in snow since the snow buildup on the face of it can become a problem when it faces forward, but speeds over 45 mph it should stay forward

 

I think it’s been decided that snorkels are more looks with little gain.

That time I destroyed my fender on the trail I was very fortunate it didn't happen on the side with the snorkel on it, lol. That would have been way uglier (goodbye A pillar)

It had a gasket and it was on there for a while so most definitely the original.

 

As someone who used to be a dealer technician it is true if timing belts go they can damage certain engine components, maybe not on this particular engine. Doing a tb as a preventative maintenance is a good way of making sure your engine lasts. Also it’s not always about trying to scare someone into buying a service or repair but covering ourselves just in case something does happen.

 

Which bulb you going with? You already done the 'big 3 upgrade'?

Big 3? No, several years ago I performed the "Ultimate Headlight Upgrade" with the Susquehanna Motorsports: HL282S SMS Upgrade Headlamp Harness for Switched Ground Vehicles and went through four Osram H4 12V Hyper Bulb 85/80W bulbs over 25k miles. Since those bulbs are now discontinued, I am replacing them with the 90/100W mentioned in the thread.

 

My biggest concern when installing mine was how it might effect overall performance with the supercharger, there was some debate as to whether or not the snorkel would restrict the airflow needed especially at wide open throttle. But tbh I haven't noticed a difference either way, it pulls just the same with the snorkel as it did without one. And as a plus, I've noticed that my intake temps stay down more than just a few degrees overall which is good (cooler air from directly outside instead of the wheel well near the engine).

Because water being forced down a tube into your filter and intake is better than having it in an engine bay in a box sealed from the environment

 

What if it’s raining when your going through a pond that’s above your hood? It’s like a double standard, needs to be under the hood out of the rain but can’t be. That’s why I just stay out of ponds in my truck, that’s what I use the boat for.
