Jebus... Just for the record, I received my AIP-TY02-ID today. Ran home over lunch and installed it. Took about 20 minutes and works great. Just for the record the metraonline.com tech support is full of shit since they said it was not compatible with the '07 tacoma 6 disc changer non JBL.... Go figure. Also thanks for your input.

Mine charges my iPod (3G Nano). You have an iTouch? That might be the problem. I think I might have read somewhere (either this thread or another one) that someone said it didn't charge their iPhone.

One small issue I found is that it'd be nice if the adapter would shut the iPod off when you turn off the truck. Oh well...

    I can't see why not - but I can't guarantee it.

I used to use a Belkin FM transmitter, but couldn't get rid of the buzzing noise, no mater what frequency I chose. I just bought the Metra AIP-TY02-ID on ebay. They were asking $40, but accepted my offer of $30. S & H was $10, so all together, I paid $40. It was like getting the shipping free. It arrived in 4 days, and I installed it in about 20 minutes. The volume is a little low, but after adjusting my Sansa MP3 player, it was pretty close to the radio's volume. There is a volume limiter in the Sansa. After turning that off, and setting the volume on the Sansa to max, it was pretty decent. No more crappy FM transmitter!:)

Anyone have any experience installing this in an 06 Taco? I have the normal stereo with single cd player. I can not figure out how to remove the stereo in order to get access to the aux port.

How do I control the Ipod without using the stereo controls? The Metra AIP-TY02-ID doesn't show txt on my dash and its extremely annoying.

    Hey guys,

I just finished installing a GROMAUDIO iPod adapter for my 2009 Tacoma. It works great! It was $78.99 plus shipping but I think that it is a good deal considering the unit also charges your iPod while it's connected. You can also control the unit from the factory buttons. Also the stock CD changer and stereo work just fine with the unit connected. This is the third unit I buy from them, I have one in my wife's car and had one in my last truck. They have great customer service over there as well.

So, I purchased the Metra (Axxess) AIP-TY02-ID from a dealer on Ebay. The unit was new and in original box.

I installed in my 2008 with JBL 6 CD in-dash changer. The unit does not work. It will charge the Ipod, but the tiny red power light on the Metra unit does not illuminate and the HU will not change over to CD1. No sound, no music.

I know folks have been through this before, but the tech support people at Metra swear the unit will not work with the 2008 in-dash changer. I guess I am the example of that.

Anyone have any ideas I might have missed? All connections are correct.

    Thanks

This unit will go up for sale very soon and very cheap. $35 bucks including shipping.

well, i have read and read and searched and i'm still having trouble figuring out which to get. i have the 05 tacoma, 6cd, and a regular mp3 player. i want the simplest setup. i've found some that i can use that are $100 but i read about $50 ones, which i'm guessing is the simplest one. where are these $50 ones?? I've researched on best buy, radio shack, and circuitcity.com and all i see are harnesses and radio kits. no interfaces within the $50 range, only $100+ units. or if i find them, it's for the ipod, which i don't have. i have a regular mp3 player. someone please post a link for me. I'm getting really friggin aggravated.

I'm not sure what to tell you. I haven't been spending much time on TW lately so I don't know what your current options are. My Metra is still going strong but I suspect they are probably getting hard to find. Hopefully someone will chime in with some cheaper alternatives for you. Good luck!

I called the mp3yourcar.com customer service and he said my only option for a regular mp3 player to my factory HU was the NeoPro Link and it's $200. Fuck paying that much when you guys are only blowing 50 bucks. I'm willing to go up to $100 if I can find the correct unit. I asked him if i could use the Aux2Car TY3 unit and use RCA cables that plug into a headphone jack and he said no. From what i'm reading on their site, it looks like i can do that but he's got me doubting it now. even if it turns out I can use the the Aux2Car TY3 i don't think i'll order it from them because i figure he was just trying to upsell and rip me off by selling me more than i need.

come on guys, help me out here.

if it sucks, then i'm only out $15(shipped)

so since this is an old post, can someone help me out by telling me if it has both the ipod connection and the 3.5mm jack support, or, either or, or just one?
    thanks

I used to have the metra adapter. It has ipod and 3.5mm connections. It is hard to find nowadays. I switched to the grom audio usb adapter. It has ipod/3.5mm AND a USB connection on it. Now I roll with a flash drive and don't have to worry about any charging and the radio controls work it, of course. It was about 120.00 for the adapter and the usb connection that runs from the box to wherever you put it.

    Here's a link to it......
