a "milk situation"

two days ago I bought a gallon of milk and it leakd onto my backseat. I hit it with hot water when I got home that day and sopped it with bathtowels. Today it smells like something died in there so I bought two cans of cleaner with "odor-x" and sprayed the shit outa the area. Then I hit it again with hot water and more cleaner and two more bathtowels sopping it up AND grabbed a hair dryer and went at it with that and a towel.
I will go down there after I eat and see if the funk went away. Meantime-are there any secret remedies for this? Thanks

Been there done that. I also spilled milk in my Mercury about 3 months ago. I tried just about everything I could and nothing helped besides time after about 2 months it finally disapeared . It was summertime and it was unreal how bad it stunk the following day. I tried odoban and some stuff called positive d and all it did was add to the stench. Someone said vinegar? It stunk worse than milk and then could not get that smell out.. Good luck. If you have any luck with anything post it because I am sure at some point in life I will do it again.

 

Thanks guys for the comeback-I have been fishing around and the baking soda sounds like the best bet, Chris-matter of fact they want me to spread it onto the affected part of the seat and spritz cold water over it and let it set overnight. I trust it won't discolor the seat? My initial effort decreased the odor like 35%, it is stubborn. I'll put it in here if I find a fix

 

oxi clean it will eat the organic materials. use the arm+hammer to get rid of the smell and clean it out with oxi clean

 

try using a product called spot lifter, my wife spilled a crock pot full of chilli on the floorboard of her honda going to work one morning last year and after the inital cleaning and sopping it up this stuff removed all traces of it.

 

For kid chocolate milk puke I used Nature's Miracle pet odor remover. It was fine on my seats and worked like a charm. It's about 15 dollars for a big bottle at the pet store. Don't waste your money steamcleaning or anything until you nuetralize the smell.

FWIW between a healthy dose of baking soda overnight and a few sprays of Febreeze auto the smell is pretty much gone. Thanks a lot for your help

 

your going to need to remove the seat cover and possibly replace or clean the padding underneath.. only sure way to fix
