There's a couple threads about it, as there are about gutting the interior to get that panel out.

Basically, I just did a series of plunge cuts with a utility knife. Pushing in with the soft plastic advances the blade. Start smaller than needed and shave the opening until the LSP fits correctly

I did screw up and cut out the power port hole. NBD though. But, you only need to cut out enough for the rectangular switches.

You can reach behind the HVAC panel and pop out the switches?

I do have big hands but short fingers. It looks like I should be able to palm a basketball, but can't get enough spread.

For the LSP and some other mods there, I needed as much room as I could get.

I definitely did mine without taking the radio out or the HVAC controls the first time. It's not fun, but doable with a long zip tie to fish the wires through. Taking out the HVAC panel is so easy though and makes the job a piece of cake.

Is the manual HVAC not bad to pull? I am used to old cars and those ancient push-pull cables break on you... suppose these are just electrical servo controlled on the 3rd taco....

Yeah I just did my switches coming through the head unit opening. Once to put in a light bar switch, another time to take it out and put in the 2lo switch.

I’ve got everything else on a switch pro, which is good cuz I don’t have any blanks down there.

our 04 4 runner with multimode drive train had low range awd feature. It was awesome for low speed tailoring boats down a paved launch ramp.
So, this feature in two wd would be excellent. Count me in !

I can get the HVAC panel out without messing with the head unit. Just a bit of a wiggle.

    Definitely easy to remove.

Nice! I don't think I could get a finger on a switch with it in place.

I've been back there for the front camera power (teed into the power port), adding an MCTuning dual USB charging for the left side, the LSP, swapping the round socket for the BlueSea dual USB on the right, the 2LM, and finally to wire in the Rear Camera Anytime (finally!!). I still plan to do a front light bar someday. That leaves one other slot that might become a rear accessory light after I get around to the RCI bumper.

Yeah as @tonered said, you just wiggle a bit and it will come out from under the HU. You just have to unplug a few connectors. No manual cables or control shafts.

One of my first mods was the HAI cable. It is for the stock HU though.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-navigation-override-smartphone-mirr.501617/

It has navi override, front camera, and anytime rear camera.

I don't know if it your new HU will like it if your old version didn't work? Although, it is just the classic ground of the correct wire for navi override and rear camera and a separate input for front camera.

Any bit of Megan Fox works for me.

No one would accuse me of being a hand model. Being mistaken for a whale is a sometimes worry for me though.

I think the problem is the one I had, was integrated with the steering wheel controls and didn’t play nice with the control adapter for the head unit. If it’s outside of that, I don’t think it would be a problem.

I got my front camera working, I just needed to wire up the 12v connections. Rear camera requires more trickery

This just plugs in between the stock harness. You probably don't need the navi override.

I had to add power to get the front camera to work also. It created a new a/v input icon on the HU.

If you can find the correct input wires, the rear should just be closing the rear camera input? @Hoangde might be able to help you find that?

Wow. GIS. I didn't know this was a thing. Certainly not a problem here. Attitude is a big deal, but I'd never get close enough to know.

Hahahaha! Just toss a nice fish in my direction and I'll shut up.

Ok, I am incompetent.. I bought this kit a while ago and now on lockdown, I am finally going to install this. I have a busy week planned with the meso lower panel, front and rear camera/nav override, and 2wd lo. But I have looked through the posts here and the ones linked in the first page, I am unable to locate the install instructions. Can anyone help me with my apparent inability to find something that must be obvious.

This is pretty much it. If you follow the @BigWhiteTRD instructions, just ignore all the stuff about cutting and splicing wires. All you have to do is plug in the harness and tuck it away neatly. Pay attention to where/how the glove box goes back in. If you route the cables to the left, you will have a hard time putting it back in.

Thank you, I am an idiot, I kept downloading the reference card, not the install pdf. Sorry for my stupidity. Thank you again!
