    I feel the same way. If it were my 2nd I'd beef it up all the way, but this is my daily. So, I'm gonna do a modest overland build so I can still fit in the garages at work and still have decent gas mileage. Don't get me wrong guys...I didn't buy it for the great gas mileage (sarcasm), but it was a great replacement for my FJ Cruiser. RIP.

    Yes, I have an MX4. The top of the bracket fits behind the rail. Remove the 4 small screws holding the accessory rail and it's out of the way. This really is a very simple mod and may seem much more intimidating than it is. The nice thing about the way this is mounted is that the rails play no part in the installation. The only real drawback is that the sliding factory tiedowns are limited in their use. You can see that in the pic. That's not really an issue though because you can still use T-nuts with d-rings or eye bolts for your tie downs on the lowered rails.
    Did I answer you question or concerns? If not fire away.
    This install will be much easier to understand once I get time to disassemble it to repaint the brackets. It really is an easy mod once you see the steps taken.
    So easy a caveman could do it........, really! The infamous rivet nut tool is the key.

    @honey
    Jeff if you're reading this you're going to wonder how you ever managed to get through life without one. Mounting things in your Tacomas bed or anywhere you can't get a nut (here it comes) never got easier! Using rivet nuts is far superior to using jack nuts.

    Honest folks a rivet nut tool is well worth owning and they are not that expensive. First time you use it you will be convinced that it was a legitimate purchase and worth having around.

    It looks like that switch is supposed to be an inline positive, and not grounded? :notsure:

    Here is a better shot as I pulled the wires apart a little.

    Open harness.jpg

    I put the original 5amp fuse and it blew, 10 amp and it blew also. I don't think this is wrong as when I first put it together it worked. After I woke up to take more photos it blew. Weird.

    haha, it came out pretty good I’m super happy with it. I was mainly just bored and figured since my shocks are getting tuned I might as well do something productive.

    What’s the watts on the led? Also I would do it as a ground switch instead of on the power wire.

    Good point, I actually have mine set up as a ground switch, but that's what it was designed for. Otherwise, you may have chafed a wire, check the connector at the LED, or perhaps the LED's themselves are crossed? You can try eliminating one of the strips if you wanted to check. :notsure:

    Yeah, on second thought, I'd PM/Email him direct...

    OP- Because you paid for a complete assembly, I could just contact the seller. Typically you would want to wire it as a ground switch BUT I’m not sure the watts of the lights or the switches amp capability. Double check the instructions to make sure you have all the pos/neg wires connected correctly. Like Ryan said, it’s possible you switched something. I was hoping watts and instructions would be on the site, but they aren’t. Without the basic info on each part of the system, not sure how much more help we could be.

    Completed the Garage Door Remote Mod. Replaced the power adapter with Dual USB/Voltmeter, and tucked factory USB/AUX behind the dash to run a charging cable up to my DMM. More details here and here.

    I couldn't figure out how to get the switch to illuminate. I quick spliced the blue AOB wire (+) to the green wire of another switch and the black AOB wire (-) to the tan wire of another switch. I thought that would work based on other posts. But it did not. Can anyone tell me which wires from an existing switch to tap into to get the AOB switch to illuminate?
