Got mine finished today. It's good from far and far from good, but it functions and should be pretty strong. Only remaining pieces are how to mount my Hi-Lift and shovel since the platform interfered with their locations.

Also I need a way to keep the drawers closed besides putting something between them and the tailgate. Any ideas?

I'm installing some turnbuckles and working on the "Sides" of my platform.
Did you turn buckle the back side as well?
I'm looking into ways of creating a mounting point in the back of my drawer box, without taking the box apart to access the inside. I see what you used in the front, I might screw two of those into the back

I used a bolt and nut through the hole where the factory tie down D rings attached. I counter sunk the bolt head to sit below the drawer track. But if I need to remove the box, it would require some work.

    Nice!!
Kind of jealous you got real slide mechanism. What kind of carpet is that? I need to put carpet on mine.
Also, do you really like your anchor point the way you have it in the front with turnbuckles? That was my initial method because I was able to reuse stock mounting point in the bed, but think about it.
If you hit a bump the box is free to go up. I will be attaching down to the bed so its getting pulled to the bed. Something to think about.

Blue is how I will mount mine. I'm changing it from how you have it rn.

    EDIT:
I see you already have a mounting point. In your case, even easier.

You’re totally right. I thought of that last night too actually and I’m going to change it. My thinking was that it’s easier to get my hand into that compartment with the turnbuckle the way it’s pictured, but structurally it’s smarter to run it downwards.

I got the carpet from Home Depot. Was marketed as indoor/outdoor carpet. I’ll find you a link to it later.

Made up some mounts for the Hi-Lift and shovel. Lobbed off 2" from my 60" jack so it would clear the bed stiffeners and sit flush against the sides of the bed. Thinking of trying to find a smaller shovel since the way it is now eats up a lot of space. Thinking some collapsable that will fit in the dead space under the platform.

I havent had any luck selling this so thinking about a bed platform in it. Has anyone done a platform with this style topper? Also I'm worried about ventilation and it getting damn hot in there, any ideas?

I think a platform would feel like a coffin with those side boxes - can you take those out from the inside? The side access would be nice to have. You install one of those fans from an RV into the roof for ventilation either way.

I just finished mine! Heading on a road trip soon. Want to be able to roll a bike into the left and maybe a surfboard under the platform...

Its two rectangular 1x6's and a 30" platform set about 8" high (used the notches on the side of the bed). The feet sort of hook into notches in the tray to keep it from sliding.

3/4 plywood platform keeps it all in place using pins from home depot with rings on them - cant recall proper name. Then used studs(?) and cotter pins to hold the side in place just so things stay tight when I'm driving etc.

Pretty stoked! My goal was to be able to remove it without tools if need be.. my only bummer is the studs aren't flush. I'm sure it will be modified soon!

    Just the basics
I have that type of shell but I have windows. I think you can remove the tool boxes. Also Toynado and Tacomarin both have this type of shell. We all have sleeping platforms.

I would keep them boxes if i were you ...use them for your camp gear.. lay some ply down, throw in a mattress or even a low cot and enjoy the headroom... Pop in a couple R/V windows with screens in them back doors and maybe a vent/fan on top for air and be done...

CBI sliders, ADS extend travel with compression adjuster coil overs, 9” Bilstein 5125 rear shocks, Icon Tubular UCA, Alcan custom leafs, All Pro Apex bumper and skids, NWTI rear diy bumper, 295/70/17 Cooper St Maxxs and nitro 4.88s.
Cut the backs out and add some sliders of plywood. So you can utilize them on the inside

Lot of great ideas in here. Question for the 2nd gen drivers: do you leave the bed rail caps on or take them off when mounting your cap? Thanks.

On my 2nd Gen I took them off, sealed in between the caps and the sheet metal, then reinstalled. Most cap manufacturers factor in the bedrail caps for figment.
