Sounds like you plan to go full overland on this build. I'll live vicariously through you haha. What's "moderate lift" mean with that set up?

Haha. I’ve been living vicariously through everyone else on here so I’m stoked to have my own rig to work on. Not sure on the exact lift at this point. Would like to be in the 2-3” range but waiting to see how much sag I get with the truck top and sleeping platform before I start going down that wormhole. Won’t be anything crazy since this we won’t be doing any serious off roading, just something reliable, robust, and affordable.

Added Total Chaos bed stiffeners this morning in preparation for the Tradesman truck shell getting installed later this week(!). Install was super straight forward with good instructions. Very impressed with the build quality. Went with these over the other options because the lip gusset on the bottom doesn't extend past the wheel well. That's going to be critical with the sleeping platform and drawers that I have planned.
    IMG_3060.jpg

Took off the factory decals and TRD stickers. Put black wheel vinyl on... loved it from 3 feet back. Looked cheap up close. Guess I'll learn to love the stockers or save for something else.

Just got this beautiful truck top installed today. Many thanks to @Toynado for the guidance and recommendations for my build! Tradesman Truck tops do some fantastic work and have great attention to detail. From the perfectly patched paint, to the weatherstripping seal on the front lip between the cab and bed. I can't say enough good things about this top. Hoping to start building the sleeping platform this weekend

    MOAR!

Any idea how you plan to keep dust out?

Looks like stock suspension. If you get the chance please measure from the ground to the top of the shell and also to the top of the vent window on top.

Was there a reason not to go with the straight sides on the rear door like Toynados?

Not a clue! Maybe @Toynado can chime in about how dust has been with his. Probably something simple like this: https://www.amazon.com/UTGS10-Ultimate-Tailgate-Seal/dp/B00IPQWXZQ

Yes stock suspension for now. I'll try to get a good measurement on this later today. As a rough estimate it's 26" tall from the top of the bed rails, and then I would guess another 10" tall protruding from that. But I'll get you some better numbers.

I wanted a full rear hatch rather than the smaller door. My main reason was so that I wouldn't be limited with loading and unloading stuff. I still plan to "use this as a truck" a lot and sheets of plywood will be easier for me to load in the bed with that hatch all the way open.

For dust I'd suggest a Bedrug. Most reports I've read are positive to keep the dust negative. :D:rofl:

So with my current suspension and nothing in the bed, it measures about 76.5" to the top of the Tradesman. I was way off on the vent, it only protrudes about 4-5" from the top. Hard to say exactly because the top of the vent is bulbous and it's raining so I didn't want to spend a lot of time out there guestimating. :D

So overall height I would put at 80-81". Probably a no go if you have standard garage door, but fortunately I'm not wealthy enough to have a garage at all!

I'm just going from my experience with the Flippac. No matter what I did dust got inside. Used bulb seal and caulk. I've read that the Bedrug is a great solution.

Got some work done on the truck this weekend. Finally got the stupid license plate lights swapped out to LED at the expense of my hands. I want to slap the engineer that is responsible for that. Installed a Pop and Lock for the tailgate because I was already tired of manually locking it. I want to slap the product line manager that decided it was okay to not have a power lock for the tailgate. For anyone wondering, the Pop and Lock is functional but the instructions are worthless it is damn loud and sounds like pretty bad. May look into some sound deadening for it at a later date but at least it works! Most importantly the Chubby Unicorn sticker was installed (-5 hp).

Got some work done on the platform as well. Big plans for that system but just got the outer enclosure built so far. It's all built out of 3/4" marine plywood, glued and screwed with Kreg pocket screws. It's super solid, pretty heavy, but manageable with one person which was my goal. The gap in the middle is going to be a separate piece that links the two boxes together. Haven't figured out exactly what I'm doing there yet.
