What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Well, I think what threw me off so much were in fact the old worn out springs. Frowning with an empty bed. So it’s probably right where it should be. If anything, at least it doesn’t look like it’s sagging it ass down the highway. I’m running 5100s all the way around, I may have to adjust them.

 

Your truck actually sits nicely. I’m not a big fan of over done lifts and such.

 

Hell, I wish mine looked that nice. I’ve got some serious rust restoration to start on back there.

 

New meats on some 4Runner wheels

 

Yep. Don’t haul much. It had a bedliner but it started to shrink up. So I took it out. Plus it was rubbing the metal and creating some rust. I found those drains on each side of the bed too. Lol

 

J59s give you 1.5” OVER stock which is already 1.5” higher in the rear.

The proper way to measure is from center of hub to bottom of fender. Stock is 21” front and 22.5” rear.

J59s should level you out if you’ve got 3” lift up front.

The only way to level it out would be to adjust the 5100s up front on the highest setting. That should give you a factory like stance front to back.

 

From center of the hub to apex of the fender flare was 23” on each side. I know that’s not the proper way.

I’d rather have a slight rake than a sagging truck. But before I put the weight in, straight comical. If anything, I’ll bump the front up but for now I can live with it.

 

Finally got around to removing this stuff:



Took all of 15 minutes. Took a test drive and noticed only a bit more roll/movement although I didn't initiate any fake evasion steering practice. Tomorrow I'll try one or two more compression clicks on the Fox shocks and see if that gets it back to feeling "normal." Hey, at the very least, my fat pig just lost 20 or so pounds which is a good thing.

 

New tires on new to me used 4Runner wheels. Rattle canned them gunmetal. And new replacement headlights and taillights, truck looks so much better now and I can actually see at night again!

Refreshed my brake fluid. Can't tell any significant difference in braking ability which seems a little worse since I installed the OME nitrochargers and Dakar leaf packs in the rear. Probly time for new shoes.

 

Did you install a BPV relocation bracket? When you lift the rear and keep the BPV in the same spot, you lose some rear braking power. Some don't notice but some do. I didn't really but installed one anyway. The bracket moves it up a bit to make it perform as intended

I did not. Will look into one of those. I still need to install my extended rear brake line. I'm nervous about sucking air into the system since I have ABS. It looks like hard lines going into and coming out of the stock flexible brake rear brake line so what prevents me from sucking air into the system and screwing up my ABS when I disconnect the stock to install the extended?

 

I can't say, but I have ABS as well and was able to install my extended rear brake line no problem. Just do a full brake bleed when you're done and you'll be good to go

Did some interior changes today:

Removed leather shift boot and cleaned up the rubber boot underneath (saw this idea from a thread but i couldn't find it again to give credit ). Added upholstery to the console.
I really am liking the look of the rubber boot.
Also added cupholder bought from a 3D printer company from Etsy. Cupholder fits nice and actually pretty damn secure.
Had to find a way to try to hide as much of the 4WD control wire under the upholstery which i used a piece of fabric and wrapped it around the hog ring under the 4WD shift lever. Added nylon wrap to the wire to make it look a little nicer (I may try to put in under the boot later)




Also added a Molle visor cover, So far I love this thing, holds quite a bit a stuff

 

Got my fuel injectors back today from motor west from a full service for 130.00 and installed.
7 day turnaround,

Changed tribal colors today. Went from Blue on Blue to Black and silver. Also installed a new set of uniballs into my Camburg UCAs.

 

What's the large disconnect for? A second battery?
