Yes. I know folks that do that as well as others that won't roll out until the temp gauge is moving. Hell, some on the bike side won't roll out until the motor is at normal temp.

In my experience, getting rolling gently has worked for me. The time it takes to get out of the garage or parking lot at minimal load has the oil at all the good spots. I have also seen how quickly the oil and coolant temps rise with gentle loads compared to idling. They come up in a fraction of the time at revs barely higher than high idle.

    It's all good though.

I knew that was coming. :D

It is extremely annoying in the Forester. One of the few cars where the brake / AT selector interlock is appreciated.

right on, i'm actually considering the hardware bits warming/expanding a bit before load, not concerned with oiling on these motors.

Figured since I've been lurking and learning I'd post up what I've done. Thanks to all involved on this thread and contributing! I'd be lost without it and have leveraged the collective knowledge for my tune. Still need to work on a few things (not sure what tables Adaptive and Normal Cruise Control leverage; Continue modifying ECT shifting for performance; S-mode shifting for extreme performance). I haven't had much time to drive since I flashed it (10 miles or so), but this is the best the truck has ever driven. I'm 04A61, 275/70/17 wheels/tires, 4.88 gears.

Here's my change log so far:
    10/5/2020:
    - Updated Premium_Stock_Thx for:
    - 4.88 Gears (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuner-for-the-3-5l-tacoma.662948/page-249#post-24218483)
    - "DriveTrain Control" - Tire Size change (Diameter to Radius calculation)
    - ECT Shift Updates by 25%
    - Tire radius to 16.1
    # After initial drive, still feels a bit laggy on throttle and shifts too quickly. Made the following edits:
    - Updated Throttle Management Throttle Limiter to 100 (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuner-for-the-3-5l-tacoma.662948/page-298#post-24303725)
    - Updated Throttle Limitations (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuner-for-the-3-5l-tacoma.662948/page-206#post-24143210)
    10/7/2020:
    # In ECT, 5th to 6th feels like its too high so adjusting both downshift and upshift 5th-to-6th values by 20% instead of 25%.
    - Updated Primary Shift Tables by 15% over stock
    - Updated Downshift/Upshift ECT for 5-to-6 to 20% (down from 25%)
    - Updated Acceleration Throttle Request Airload based on: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuner-for-the-3-5l-tacoma.662948/page-303#post-24316252
    - Updated ACIS HIGH from 3650 to 3400 (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuner-for-the-3-5l-tacoma.662948/page-215#post-24162858) and LOW from 2600 to 2700.
    - Updated RPM Limiter Fuel Cut from 6300 to 7000

If anyone would like to give this one a try, let me know. Again - thanks to everyone on here for posting their knowledge.

I haven’t changed any of the octane settings which I’m not sure if we can. So it still the regular 2.0 premium which is I think 91-93

did you make any of these changes in stages for individual assessments? i ask because I'm interested in what changes you identified, if any, from your ACIS H & L edits.

the MT file i run is different. HIGH is 3250, LOW is 2500. just curious what performance/driveability changes you may have noticed.

Everything just seems smoother, more linear, and not like the truck is struggling to get up to speed and maintain it. I'm not sure how to answer other than saying that. I read up on ACIS (linked in my post) and decided to give it a try. By default on the auto, my HIGH was 3650, but I saw Mat had mentioned there was a sweet spot based on dyno testing so I leveraged what @Mooseditty17 did. The other thing I've noticed in my short time on this tune, the truck doesn't feel like it has a heavy/flat feeling to it anymore. It always felt lethargic and when it did get up into the power band, would run like a bat out of hell, but very jerky. Now the power delivery is smooth throughout, is predictable, and it drives like a normal vehicle. I'd say it actually feels nimble now. I need to get more seat time with it and will next week. Going on a trip and will be putting about 1,000 miles on it.

Edit: Update since I didn't answer the stages. Yes, the initial tune I created on 10/5 and it was still very jerky and still felt flat/lethargic. I did make a bunch of changes yesterday and applied them this morning. This morning's drive is where I'm basing my reviews/thoughts on. Just doing the gears, tire, throttle for HIGH/LOW, and the Airload table smoothing didn't seem to do much/anything at all. But the 2nd half of the changes in conjunction with those have really made a huge difference. Easy enough if you want me to go back and undo and sequentially make edits so I can see which one made the largest difference.

If you have an AT tacoma and are still seeing 1rst gear throttle limits even after making the 1rst gear limiters 100, you may need to set this trans torque table higher.
    Trans torque 1

If you have a MT and still see it, it's being worked on

@Mooseditty17 thoughts? 1st gear still feels a little anemic to me, but it might just be me.

For the MT, I can't say for sure if there are no more throttle limitations, but it is launching smoothly and very quickly at any deep throttle position through WOT. If there is more to be had, it will get interesting.

BTW, 1st and Reverse are the only gears with limits? 2nd and up are not limited?

If you have a MT just do a datalog in first gear and post it here, easy to check

right on.. with your ACIS settings now, are you all smooth into timing advance, or do you still experience any surge (~3500)?

zero surge here since the 2.0 release for MTs.

@PapaRee Can we without VF take these same tunes from like the files above that Moose attached and run them? Thanks for your help. Just starting to see that it looks like we without VF tuner can just download them and run the file from p5f? Just need to make sure of same ecu id and other options? Thanks

Any particular section of values like on Airload maps, or just raise everything via the multiplier? By 5%, 25%?
