I benefited from this old thread and appreciate the OP for writing this. Also benefited from all the great tips added by smart talented members.
I did mine slightly different. Loosened the ball joint nut, removed the steering stop, disconnected the tie rods and sway bar links as well as the brake line and abs brackets.
This let me swing and tie the knuckle, axle and brakes still attached, to the side and there was plenty of room to get at the ball joint with an air impact wrench.
For a clean rust free truck the ball joints are in there tight.

Bump for help..... I have a set of lower arms I'm rebuilding.. I already pressed in my white line bushings.....

The problem I'm having is the arms currently have moog ballpoint that need to be pressed out and these moog have really big lips on them to where none of the ballpoint kits reciever tunes fit that I have purchased. There is very little room for a cup to rest on the arm but over the ballpoint.

Has anyone here ever replaced moog lower ballpoint on the lower arm?

That's OEM ballpoint which has a smaller od lip on the ballpoint so you have more room to fit a sleeve

I just bought the moog replacement lcas to avoid all that. Was about 220 for both. Good luck finishing it up. Sure someone has a solution.

That's all they cost for both? I should probably went that route.

So far I'm to invested to start over and I don't know how I can remove the white lines with out breaking it.

    LCA 130$
    Moog bj 50$
    Whiteline bushings 130$

Yes. Comes with bushings and joints ready to bolt on. Can save your old ones to rebuild like your doing at your leisure. Here they are.

If you’re removing them anyway, just get at it with a cut off wheel and get yourself some more room.

I know none of the kits I tried were the right size when I replaced my oem bj’s with moog so I ended up modifying one to make it the right size.

Yes, you need a 3-inch long cup/tube with a 2.5" ID. A metal yard should be able to cut you a piece for cheaps. A DOM tube is ideal - one without an inside seam, or you can grind it out, as I did. The wall should be 1/4 or 3/16 thick. Mine is 3/16ths and I dont think a thicker walled tube will fit.

I watched this video and was exhausted before even attempting it. Those Moog complete lower LCA’s are the way to go.

I caution against using Moog or Dorman LCA's. Or, if you do replace the BJ's with better quality BJ's. I got Dorman's from Rockauto; the BJ's did not last 5K miles. It was just a coincidence I was replacing my front coils that I noticed excessive play in the Dorman BJ's. Maybe Moog's are better, but the prices are similar. I suspect Moog uses a lower grade BJ like Dorman does.

I just installed the moog ones. Hopefully they hold up. Will try to report back in future if issues.
