Passenger Door Smart Key System

Anybody have an updated parts # list to do this mod. Want to make sure I order the right parts and not have to go back and order additional parts when I start doing the install. Also looking for the best place to purchase these parts. Looking forward to this mod! Thanks everybody.

 

All there in the first post. I would order a few spare of the repair terminals and the terminal housing just in case you make a mistake. I broke a pin and had to wait a few extra days for a new one to come in.

 

Pulled the trigger after waiting a few years. I was hoping the price on the parts go down. And it did. Yes I struggled with the boots between the door and body like everyone else. But I noticed that the boot in my 2016 Tacoma on the body was sealed around the wiring. So instead I cut a slot on the inside of the boot to get the wires out.

I also found that pushing the boot from the inside makes it easier to remove. This made it easier to pull the wires. Had to read through all the posting to find out if the wiring between the green and blue matter. Yes it does. If anyone missed it, the bottom wire on the door housing goes to the blue (to help remember, “bottom blue”). Top wire goes to the green. I use the posi-tap to tap the wires. It’s cleaner and small than T-taps. I also like the suggestion to put a washer on the T-30 screw. I used a small metal washer and it worked great. I had to watch on YouTube how to remove the door panel. The posting by Jessie Rizo’s “How to Install Front door speakers”. It was the best video.
If my friend decides to get this mod for his Tacoma I will film it for everyone

 

how long did your install take?

 

Actuall a longer than it should have since I took my time to make it as clean and easy as possible. I spent at least 2-1/2 working hours, but I could do it again in half that time. The problem was gather all the materials, and finding the right washer.

 

Awesome write up! I've been meaning to do this mod for awhile now, just haven't had the time. Like others I wish Toyota would've added this feature as stock. Anyhow, and sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone have a step by step video of this install? I'm more of a visual/YouTube kinda guy and not too electrical savvy. Thanks guys

I just did it. It is perfect. If you haven't done the oem power tailgate do it at the same time. You have to pull some of the same panels off

So... I've had mine installed for over a year now (see my happy post), but all of a sudden, it quit working. My driver's side still works. I checked the wiring on the ECU side and it looks pretty solid, still. Wondering if there's a way to see if the passenger handle is still good without pulling the door panel off. Is there a continuity check I can make on the wires [I used to tap into the ECU] to see if the passenger door handle is still good? Or if, maybe, the connectors fell of or something? Maybe my passenger door handle is defective (unlikely)? Thanks, in advanced, for your help!

 

I took time to install the passenger door smart key system on my 2019 DCLB with the harness from Accessorides. Super happy I did, because it's been bothering me every time I go to open the passenger door with the Lexus credit card key (seen programmed over here).

Word of caution, the new door handle didn't go in without prying the greasy spring tab, in the 3rd picture, from the T-30 torx screw hole (handle doesn't work, handle spring broken, handle not working right).

Oh, you mean these? I know, right? The brake install coincides with the upper arm double shear kit because the brake lines will need to be removed to install the kit. My mechanic has an import shop, but for bolt-on accessories only. He can do the welding, but may not be able to do the brakes fluid, so we're working out the details now...

 

Lol exactly those... can't wait to see them installed.

Shout out to to @kmorgan3 for building me a bad ass no splice harness! And @caribe makaira for bein the invaluable caribe. Took about an hour to install. I Routed the wire to the right, around the track then through the door following the OEM wire routing. Pulling the boot all the way out is the way to go, including that white plastic piece. Just need to get my Lexus key card. Idk which one to buy though haha.

 

Good to see they got it completed. All straight run? Or connectors/pass-through pins?

 

I fucking suck at taking pics lol. There's a long harness w the handle connector at one end and a standard 2 pin connector on the other end. Then on the T harness there's a matching 2 pin connector.

 

Ok, broke it in two. I haven’t had a chance to lay it out yet, but intend a ‘bit more integration’ with transitions at the natural connection points. I also have been tumbling a secondary idea. Glad to see PnP showing up for the less talented/inclined.
