Seat bealt Alarm...free fix...

been reading about the annoying clanging and flashing seatbelt alarm..i tried pullng the connector under my seat...it stopped the flashing and clanging but it set off my airbag...so...here is what I did...and it was totally free:
I called my local toyota dealership here in Augusta...and asked for the free seatbelt extender...they come in different lengths...I requested the 12 inch size....I got one for te passenger and driver...it took one day to get them both.
next...simply install the drivers side...at least on my 2011 its all i needed. I then tucked it between my seat and centerconsole...you need the 12 inch to make sure it fully tucks...voilla!!! no more alarm..no more flashing light...and i didnt have to go in my dash..pay any money..any time...and best of all it is all free!...and you never even see it!

Yeah...I saw that..did that...still had the flashing alarm going off on dash...this removes both the flashing and the alarm...

 

just buckle your seatbelt.

Basically, in an accident, you will bounce all around the cab and break many parts ,or get ejected . I bet you wont die, you go to the hospital , where any friends or family can watch you for years as a vegetable on a resperator. after your insurance runs out, it always will, your parents or such get the bill for the rest of the time you stay on it.All because some one else caused your wreck ,could be you , but odds are its some uninsured drunk. If you are at fault, your insurance has some rights in not paying your medical if im not mistaken.

I disabled it and them disconnected my battery and reset it. Then had four family members die from a car wreck about a month ago. I figured the beep to remind me is ok then causing more heart break for my family. Buckle ur seat belt man they save lives.

In 1993 the belt saved me. Had an appointment to fix a vacuum hose, but after a hunting trip. So, 4wd vacuum line didnt engage 4wd ,i was on ice , started sliding. I ended up in a stream upside down , but walked away from a totaled truck.
Also,My dad was a paramedic way out in the country , I helped at times. At 14,back in 1982 I had it figured out,so did my sister. We both seen schoolmates go to the hospital with severe injuries. What you know might not save you, what you dont know ,will kill you.
Hope OP understands, im not pissed or mad(well sorta), just want him to look at some photos on the web of accidents, they can get quite gruesome.

 

In OPs defence, when I put anything on the passenger's seat, even a 1gal. jug of water, the thing will start beeping, so I have had to resort to just keeping the thing buckled, which is probably not good for the seatbelt. A longer-term fix like he described might be worth a go.

That said, as a matter of principle, I am opposed to nanny-state incursions in my business, like seatbelt laws and mandatory airbags. Insomuch as I can do so without incurring the wrath of the police, I shall circumvent these nuisances as I see fit, and I encourage others to do the same should they be so inclined.

 

im just saying... if ur cool, u can go to the dealer n ask them to turn it off using the Techstream ScanTool they use. its under "Customize" setting. its a simple ON/OFF option for seat belt warning system. did it to my truck.... of course i work there (dealership)
all seat belt functions as designed, just no more beeps. the reminder light still goes on if im not wearing the belt. no biggie

 

Well for that case then OP's "mod" is fine. I won't move the truck if my set belt isn't on.

 

or how about you just take the buzzer out of the circuit board while your doing the dash mod

Just sucks when you're jumping in and out off road. down the fence line or something. But yea, I didn't even notice it till I just jumped in and started a phone call before I put on my seat belt. Man that thing just goes and goes.

 

I cant get mine to turn off with the listed press and hold trip knob tip.
I'll tell you why I don't like to wear a seat belt

Try rolling your truck over at night, hanging upside down from the seat belt, trucks still running, the tank you just filled up is pouring gas in the cab with you.

Needless to say i was quite nervous until i got out of the seatbelt (took a while) shut the truck off and kicked open the passengers door to get out.

I just knew my azz was gonna roast.

I've been in a rollover before (as passenger) down a hillside in Colorado, lost my sandwich out the window. Never even got nervous.

After the hanging from a belt incident, I prefer to take my chances with getting thrown out.

That said 99% of the time i hop on a bike I put a helmet on my head even though legally it's not required.

What i really do not like, is that it is *a law* in most parts, and that new vehicles have systems (which we all pay for) designed to bug the heck out of you if you *chose* not to wear it.
This should be a choice. I hate laws that make criminals out of normally decent people.

I think people should wear seatbelts, but those who choose not to wear seatbelts should not be forced to. That is the basis of Darwinism - the smart and adaptable will survive. We need more smart people in the world anyway, so it all works out fine.
