This may be the most insightful review I’ve ever read. Thank you!

Looking for some naked roof pics. Thinking I want an Alu Cab canopy but haven’t been able to find many DCSB pictures without a tent and awning attached.

What leaf packs is everyone using? I currently have the HD OME Dakars and starting to sag a little. Was thinking of ordering some Deavers stage III but worried about vibes from the amount of lift.

This thread was big motivation for me. Excited to join the gang here shortly!

I ordered my Alucab Canopy Camper for my 2021 TRDOR DCLB and it will ship to me early in November.

As far as rear leafs go, I went with a custom setup from Alcan Springs. My truck and CC are going to be my full-time living quarters, my house basically, so the truck will be heavier than most others. Alcan let me describe how I want to use the truck, chose a custom lift height, and custom weight capacity.

They're expensive, but 2" lift at 1,300 lb. is unavailable from anyone else.

I haven't heard of that company but I will look into it and get a quote. You will love your ACCC, best upgrade so far.

Anyone have a Alu-Cab Canopy Camper on a 5 foot short bed near (or 2-3 hours drive) from Northern Virginia that I can take a look at? Just wanted to actually see it before I considering putting an order. Thanks!

If it doesn't have to be a Tacoma, Herb at Trailtec 4x4 near Richmond has one on his Colorado.

Has anyone added a roof rack to their Tacoma after installing a canopy camper, and more importantly, did it help at all with gas mileage?

Im looking to add a roof rack and figured it may help a little with aerodynamics

For the brake light, I used the tap from this thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/plug-and-play-brake-light-taps.707529/

And for the inside lights on the Alu-cap I got a bed light tap so the cargo rocker switch in the cab controls them. From this thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bed-light-aux-harness.713292/

Both worked well and made it quick to wire.

So each time you need the inside lights to turn on you have to rely on the cargo rocker switch in the cab? Or do you leave it on auto and do something with the key fob to get them to turn on?

I made a T-harness for the canopy lights on my own by modifying a Toyota body harness to bed light pigtail. I measured the current draw of all the canopy lights on at full brightness and got 0.5A and decided I didn't need a separate relay.

That being said it can be annoying to have to either flip the bed lights to always on in the cab or open and close a cab door to get the lights to come on so it's on my todo list to modify it and run power always on to the canopy lights and control them from either a switch in the bed or just use the toggles on the lights.

Has anyone with a Canopy Camper done any insulating to theirs? I am thinking I would like to do some for the shoulder seasons or winter if I get a heater down the road, but I am just undecided what best to use for doing so and looking for ideas.

FWIW, I found that a 9v battery can run the Alu-Cab lights (the convenience lights), grab a battery and hold the exposed wires on them (reverse polarity isn't going to hurt the leds, so if they don't light up just swap them over). I have no idea how long they would last but it's perhaps a useful option for a very quick hookup. Cheap 9v battery holders can be found on Amazon, but you can also just tape the wires onto the battery. They might not be operating at their full brightness at 9v.
