Very few places here ever had testing. Every year more counties drop the testing.
There may be like 3 counties that do it now.

5 more counties just dropped testing this year.
I tell people all the time. If they mandated testing state wide, this state would just down.
50% or more of the citizens would not be able to make it work. No vehicle to drive that can pass emissions

I would definitely agree; This why I more or less agree with safety inspections but not emissions testing...

This is the problem New Jersey has; They dropped safety inspections in 2010 but require an emissions test every two years on all vehicles older than five years. The problem? New Jersey roads are full of shitboxes that should not be on the road, but are because they passed an emissions test; I should show you pictures this rusted 1986 Chevy G30 passenger van that I saw at swap meet at Raceway Park (in NJ) back in maybe 2015; This was a badass van for two reasons. It was a 125" wheelbase (shorter, not the 15-passenger version), with the top Beauville trim and fully loaded; Front and rear A/C, cruise, tilt, stereo cassette with clock, and even power windows and locks. The van had a 5.7L V8 with a 4-barrel carb, and the bulletproof TH400 tranny; 1986 was the very last year before GM switched to throttlebody injection across the board on all trucks, vans, and SUVs, and the owner of this van proudly told me that this van had a special variant of the 350 that could run on "regular" (i.e. leaded) gasoline. This van was mechanically sound and always passed emissions with flying colors, but it was so rusted that it probably would not pass a safety inspection in New Jersey based purely on the body rust. If I had to guess, I'd say that van needed a minimum of $10K in bodywork and paint to look brand new. It might even be more cost effective to buy a similar but rust-free van with mechanic issues or no title as a donor and combine the best parts of both vans!

Emissions testing is a crock of shit for any vehicle with OBDII!

My thinkig is: Hydraulic valve lifters that drain down overnight and then are slow to pump back up on startup due to very cold oil. Sometimes it's a little dirt in the lifter that causes it. Old guys back in the day (my Dad) used to add a pint or so of Marvel Mystery Oil to the crank and it would clean out the lifters and stop the noise. It always worked. I had it this issue on a few of my vehicles usually only in the winter, but not in many years.

Don't think it'll be today; I got up to use the bathroom at like 5:30am and then headed back to bed. My cousin texted me at quarter to six to tell me that Meat Loaf had died yesterday...

Our dads (brothers) are both fans of Meat Loaf and passed that on to us thanks to playing it in their vehicles when we were kids. I became firmly reacquainted with Meat Loaf in about 2002 or 2003 when on a casual ride in my dad's 1996 Nissan Pathfinder, he played Bat Out of Hell (this was the first vehicle we ever had with a factory CD player, though by this time it had an aftermarket Sony unit because the factory one had quit working; If the Pathy had the Sony CD player then it definitely would have been '03). Over the next couple years, I drove my mom nuts because Meat Loaf was about all I wanted to listen to in the car...

    :headbang:

It was either towards the end of 8th grade or the beginning of 9th grade (which in Northern Virginia, where we were living at the time, was high school; In Pennsylvania, at least in Bucks County where we've lived since 2005, 9th grade is the end of middle school and 10th grade is the start of middle school). In late 2005, my parents took me to my first real concert at Montage Mountain in Scranton, PA; This happened to be Meat Loaf, and they brought my two cousins Lanae and Sara. It was AWESOME! This was part of the 2005 Hair of the Dog tour, and Meat Loaf would have been only 58 (younger than both of my parents are now); I still have the T-shirt my dad bought me at that concert, and aside from one hole in the armpit that my grandma sewed up, it has held up extraordinarily well! Unfortunately, it doesn't exactly fit anymore because it's a size "XL" and I've not only literally doubled in age since that concert, but I've also doubled in weight...

    :anonymous:

Sorry for that novel, but the point I'm trying to make is that I grew up with Meat Loaf (as did my cousins), he has been a major part of my family, and we will greatly miss him.

So, my cousin texted me at 5:45 and told me that Meat Loaf died; She had done a peloton ride to "I'd Do Anything For Love" in his honor. Quite a few musicians I like and fairly frequently listen to have passed in the last five years or so, but it didn't shock me or affect me as much as the passing of the late Mr. Aday. This likely played a role in me not being to get back to sleep. I lied there in bed texting my cousin for like an hour, then decided to get up and begin my previously planned DoorDash run early.

I had a FaceTime with my therapist at 11:15, so I came home for that; I was gonna do another lunchtime dash, but I decided not to when I spent over an hour chatting with my mom about the whole "I really don't want to wear a mask on the plane ride to California this summer" thing. I obviously didn't get much sleep, and went up to my room, where I ended up sleeping for well over three hours; Here I am now...

I will be absolutely shocked if I manage to put 92 miles on my my truck in one of evening of local dashing; Tomorrow for sure, but unless I go into Philly (umm...NO!) or up North I highly doubt that'll happen; I am going on another Dash though!

Without pulling codes it's anyones guess but I will say many times the traction control system will be disabled when the engine light is on.
