I finally got around to installing a Hayden 697 yesterday.

I got some great ideas on the installation from @zero4.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/hayden-transmission-oil-cooler-install.108470/

While I was at it I flushed the tired valvoline dex merc out and replaced it with maxlife full synthetic. I followed @SilverGhost's writeup in his build thread. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/silverghost-rises.360448/page-7

I also want to thank @Hairless_Ape for pointing me towards a reasonably priced option and especially @gearcruncher for putting together this very informative and helpful thread. This job was a breeze thanks to you guys. My thanks gentlemen!

Sorry, this is the only pic I took when I had the grill and bumper off. I'm not good at remembering to stop to take pictures.

What's the story on this? Why was it installed for such a short period of time?

Background is on page 9 of this thread. Didnt have the desire to mess with the hose routing and bend reduction that was suggested. Just been sitting in the garage since...

It's all custom fabricated parts. Just some aluminum shaped and drilled with a couple of bulkhead fittings.

Does anyone know if the 2.7's make enough heat to worry about trans temps? Or is this more of a V6 thing.

It has to do with the load on the trans more than the input power.

So, in answer to your question, possibly/probably.

Anyone concerned about the factory 3rd Gen Tacoma cooling going thru the radiator?
Reminds me of all the 1st Gen milkshake stories…
Would it be wise to bypass the radiator?

Just ordered the 4454. Is it recommended to use an inline filter with these? I'm assuming not since OEM doesn't use one?

I use a inline filter for peace of mind, for 25 bucks it’s not going to break anyone
