Been in since an hour before first light, no visuals yet. Moon cycle looks good tho. Need to make it happen today. Turkeys everywhere, not turkey season.

Thanks! This makes me feel better. I've found one place that said $100 per side if I supply parts, still trying to get an estimate from the shop I trust. Toyota said $515 per side to replace boots, NAPA axles are $135 each, so less than $500 total for both sides staying away from the dealership.

I live in Maine so fresh haddock is easy to come by. There is a local seafood place where I can buy fresh for less than I can buy frozen at our large grocery chain nearby. This recipe can be used really for any white fish if there is another white fish that is easier to source. The principal is the same regardless of exact ingredients you use. Get the freshest fish possible in whatever quantities you need.

Get a cookie sheet and put a layer of aluminum foil over it so it is easy to clean up after you are done. Spread fish onto aluminum foil. I will coat the fish lightly with olive oil to help the bread crumb mixture stick. About a pound of haddock makes enough for a couple generous servings for two people. My wife loves it when I make the haddock so I buy two pounds. That pretty much fills up the cookie sheet and allows for leftovers, which she loves.

I will combine the haddock with either rice or potatoes made to my liking and asparagus or green beans is a nice complimentary vegetable. (I like this recipe for asparagus....https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/baked_asparagus_with_parmesan/). My favorite combination is the haddock with the baked asparagus with parmesan and mashed garlic potatoes. The added benefit is that both the asparagus and the haddock cook at 400 so you can prepare both dishes then cook them in the same oven at the same time.

Grab a large bowl and whatever bread crumb/cracker/panko crumbs you want to cover the fish with. I usually see what I have in the pantry but my favorite is Ritz crackers. I will typically grab a sleeve of crackers and carefully squish the crackers in the wrapping then pour them into the bowl. I will add seasoning to my liking, sometimes adding garlic powder, some salt, pepper and even some Italian bread crumb mix or oregano. Plain Ritz crackers is fine and if I do add anything I just try not to overwhelm the senses. Mix the dry ingredients well. I melt about a half stick of butter then pour it into the bread crumb mixture and stir well enough to that everything is mixed well and the butter/margarine coats the bread crumbs evenly.

Then I spread the mixture over the haddock, covering everything evenly. It does not have to be perfect and some spots that are thinner than other areas is fine. If you were to search online for haddock recipes the oven temperature is all over the place. I have seen anything from 350 to 500. I usually cook it at 400-425 for about 15-25 minutes. You can easily check to see if it is done by using a fork to poke at it. If it flakes apart then it is done. To integrate the meat temperature conversation into this post, an internal temp of 145 is desired for the fish. I do not cook with this method so I will check the fish after 15 minutes and adjust the rest of the cooking time by what I see. If you have one pound you will be closer to 15 minutes. Two pounds you will be closer to 20-25 minutes. After it is done pull it out and serve it up. I use a spatula to be able to serve a nice large piece that does not fall apart. I have lemon juice ready and will use it to my taste. You can spread lemon juice over the entire fish but I prefer to leave the amount up to each persons own taste. If you are not sure how much to use then try different amounts on bite size portions until you figure out what works for you.

I originally made this as a special meal for my then girlfriend and now wife. She loved it so much that it became a bit of a tradition so I make it for her birthday, anniversary, Valentine's Day, etc. She enjoys the haddock enough that the first serving on her plate is always just the fish. Then she will go back for the rest of the meal. There you go....enjoy! I thought I had a picture to share of the completed meal but I cannot locate one.

    Old firearms instructor observations,

    Does Cole shoot left handed?

He is showing an overall push to the right of center. Could be a lefty slapping the trigger or could be a righty flinching.

Did you sight in the rifle or let him do it? I ask because it could be a vision thing that’s causing the right shift. Your eyes see it different than him. Might need to adjust the ocular focus. May want to take him to an eye doctor if it’s been a while.

Not sure what distance this was but I think I would add a few clicks left on the scope based on the overall pattern.

Welcome! Let me know if you try it out. I will be curious to hear how it goes..... And feel free to edit out all the "crap" that surrounds the basic instructions. What you really need to know takes up about 5 lines!

He’s right handed. I noticed the right side shooting too. I shot the .22 first and hit near where it should be then let him have at it. The 6.5, I haven’t moved the scope on it in a couple years and he shoots it pretty good. Maybe I do need to take him for an eye exam

Kids bodies can grow faster than the eye can develop, often they need glasses in the teen years until the eye catches up.
