Have always had the gear hunting issue since day one but have also noticed when putting it in to drive without a 15 to 30 second warm-up the trans. seems like it is slipping(no power). Give it some gas and there is nothing there until maybe moving ahead for about 15 seconds before there is power. I heard some trucks left the assembly plant low on tranny fluid. My 23 year old f150 did the same when low on fluid, topped it up and back to normal.

Low fluid from the factory is a 2nd gen feature that Toyota decided to carry forward

Many people claim it, and I believe most are checking it wrong. I’ve worked on 3rd gens since new and haven’t seen one out of range for fluid.

2019 wouldn’t hurt to get it changed and set the level as part of the service.

Only 16000kms. on it and still breaking it in. Is this a normal thing or another problem? Just curious if others have had this issue.

Out of curiosity, how many U.S. models have you serviced?

15 seconds of no movement while in gear is definitely a problem. I would check it or get it checked before driving.

Everyone does pdi, the bs check trans line is grandfathered in from the dip stick days. No one is ever supposed to check from factory as you would have to bill extra fluid and new gaskets.

I’ve never checked a us model to my knowledge but they are likely the same with different units of measurement
