I believe there are two styles, the TRD "Pro" lights and the non "Pro" lights. IIRC the only difference is one says "Pro" inside the housing.

I am noticing some say "Sequential turn" while others are "non-sequential" not sure if that causes any compatibility issues.

 

They are the same headlight in functionality. Both have the reverse sequential turn.

Only difference is cosmetic

 

I went ahead and placed an order for the harness just to have that at hand. Will do some shopping around locally here to see if I can find those housings for a better deal.

 

Thank you for not just shoving led bulbs in the OEM housing. I did tue H9
Swap and for the money the are much better and brighter.

 

Another takeaway from that long thread regarding H9 ... "blue enhancement coating" and "special reflective tip" alter the big expansive ball of light given by the bulb and affect road-throw and clarity.

 

heads up, I just realized that you are coming from an SR. Sorry, you said that and I forgot.

The LED headlights don't integrate with the SR the same, @daveeasa has more info. Edit, sorry, tagged daveeasa, its @Puppypunter who is diving into the SR/SR5 LED conversion.

Not going to lie but your post just threw me for a loop. I am completely confused now. The thread you linked is about 2 years old and I am not sure what I need to read/see here. I assume the harness I got from @daveeasa is the correct one. I am just trying to source the actual headlight housing now. So is the harness/headlights are compatible with the SR? or is this for the SR5 only? There's a lot of information, some new, some old and this has left me very confused. So far I am only out $200 for the harness. If I am going down a wrong path, please let me know. I was hoping for a simple removal of the current SR housing, installing the new LED OEM housing and using the harness provided by daveeasa. Am I missing anything else?

 

You’re fine. Proceed. I have your harness boxed up and will send today. You just have to decide pro or non pro headlights. I’d buy from a dealership but you could see if any sales happen over Memorial Day or July 4th

 

Cheers! I have reached out to my original dealer and shopping around locally here. Out of curiosity, what is a ballpark price for the pair? I am seeing $900-$1200 range so far. Unless there are significant savings to be had, I may just proceed with Sparks (SC dealer).

 

Prez day 2022 was the best pricing I’ve seen, they were eligible for the discount and many got the pair for under 1200

I paid nearly 1400 for mine.

sparks with Chloe Kuo discount code is a safe bet. They are pretty good about proper packing. Other dealerships seem to be hit or miss on packing and the wrong day at UPS means you’re stuck dealing with a broken tab return.

your local dealer may be close on price and that route is way safer as they are part of the parts supply stream rather than shipped individually with a third party.

 

I assume anything priced under 1k and labeled as new is not a legitimate OEM product. As @crashnburn80 noted, due to some legal wranglings, we should expect to see more knockoffs. It can be very difficult for someone to know what is legit, outside of purchasing from a legitimate dealership.

Sounds to me that the $1200 price is reasonable but I will see if I can get it locally and avoid the shipping pitfalls. I know too damn well how fun that can be.

EDIT: Leith quoted me $700 per side, they don't have them in stock and will need to be shipped to them or to me. I am more than likely going to settle for Sparks + Discount code. Total comes to just over $1,300.

 

With the latest OEM LED knockoffs now looking nearly identical to the real deal including even TRD badging, I'd only be purchasing from a Toyota source. Toyota dealers sell on Amazon, ebay and their own parts sites too.

 

I have LED H11’s in mine that I had left over from my Subaru. Huge difference! Definitely recommend them.

That they are...although factory halogen housings are far from cheap when buying new from the dealer.
