Hey all. Manual 2015 V6, just had work done for noisy pulleys. Received new pulleys, tensioner assembly, and belt. When idling, sounds like crickets. Do you think it's a bad install? TIA

More info would be good. How many miles on it? Can you post a video of the noise?

"Chirp" makes me think first of the manual-trans TOB (throw-out bearing.) Does the sound change at all when the clutch is in (in neutral) vs when it is out (pedal pushed down to floor)?

If not that, then I wonder if it could be the water pump or power steering pump.

You can hear it until I press the clutch. Noise doesn't come back until I press gas pedal.

    Truck has 134k miles.

Yeah this is almost certainly clutch-related, not in the main / front part of the engine bay.

Most likely it's classic Tacoma 2nd gen/3rd gen MT TOB (throw-out bearing) whine, a condition that seems to start anywhere between 50-125K miles on many 2nd and 3rd gen MT's. The whine is caused by a design flaw in Toyota's implementation of the TOB.

Usually gets progressively (but very gradually) worse over time, is frequently tolerated as a chronic condition, but can occasionally result in serious damage if/when the ?? quill (I think?) inside the transmission bell housing breaks off?

My 2014 4.0L 6MT has a little bit of it. When I got the truck (used, I'm the 2nd owner) at 62K miles it didn't have any. It recently started a mild TOB chirp/whine around 70K miles, currently at 75K miles and it hasn't gotten noticeably worse.

The current consensus seems to be that the Tilton™ hydraulic-release bearing DIY kit put together by some very committed TacomaWorld posters may (finally) be a reliable long term fix for this problem. (The URD™ TOB sleeve kit has mixed reviews at best, the ClutchMasters™ DIY solution is frequently described as flaky & prone to leaking hydraulic fluid.) There aren't a great many of these Tilton™-based kits installed "in the wild" so far. I follow TW posts about them closely & I think the longest-running one I've seen so far has about 30K miles on it with no problems.

TL;DR it's probably not immediately urgent, take time to read all the existing threads on Taco TOB issues in-depth before taking any action. Here are a few:
