A co-worker accidentally bridged 2 legs of 240 volt 3 phase in a small 30 amp local disconnect. There was a boom and the entire building blacked out.

Somehow this small #10 wire (30 amp) managed to take out a transformer, the utility company had to replace it. Blacked out part of the neighborhood too.

The good part of the story - nobody got hurt...

    :fistbump:

I will have to up my cooking game substantially before I can justify buying a grill - besides I'm lazy and the George Foreman is easy.

Lol every time I am around high power I screw something up. In the case of the power unit fiasco, we used a drop off the transformer so maybe 7400V? I was in charge and the electrical guy was named, I shit you not, Wiley Kayote. I was 29yo at the time and full of myself. Let's just say life has humbled me to the level I am today.

    Yeah... :pout:

Getting your @$$ kicked enough times will do that -- getting it kicked by your own doing humbles one even faster.

I would have totally left them in the Amazon box. We actually order stuff through Amazon all the time for office (coffee) or shop supplies. Ordered a carb for the shop snowblower the other day on Amazon

I always told the kid who worked for me "I've made just about every mistake along the way - pay attention and you don't have to".

He had worked for me for a few years and was pretty good about listening & learning the lessons - but still young with sometimes more good intentions than judgement.

I'm at my desk and he comes in the shop and is over by a bench milling around maybe 15 feet away. Without any conversation he suddenly says in kind of a "I just got my @$$ kicked" way:

"Sometimes I think I know better about how to do something...
    .
    .
... and it always turns out just like you said..."

He then left the shop like a man with an appointment with a sewer snake.

I have no idea just what he did or what he had to do to make it right, we never spoke of it again. He just seemed to feel he had to own up to whatever it was.

    Is this even code?

I guess if it wasn't code, they would have made the threads incompatible.

Finishing up the mirrored versions now of the Hell parts I've been working on. Now onto programming and running the last one in this part family. It's longer, but about the same everywhere else. Here we go...

aaand already finding discrepancies. Again.. have to change all these Rads from .060" to .125" to match the rest of the parts in this family as well as fix these non-machinable corners. All of their models have been garbage.. most have been done by "Fresh Engineer Grads" ...

original.. the other corner is completely different and garbage too..

What do you see that is questionable?

The manifold is black iron, the copper lines are (from the left) the regulated line from the tank, to the furnace & to the range.

The regulator feeds the manifold at 12" water column or .433 psi.

Lol .433 psi. I was out at the production test bench yesterday and they were testing at 450 bar. Pretty sure your setup is overkill for a half psi. Shoot, you could have gotten a straw and clogged each end with a spitwad and it would handle that!
