    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Ya, I'm looking in to a bunch of ways to reinforce the front end.

ULTRA4 4500 specs say no IFS allowed unless
    Screenshot_20250220_205833_Drive.jpg
This is an Easter Egg for those paying attention
OEM Factory frame / body style for that model year, BUT the frame requirements will exceed class rules.

    - The crossmember/LCA mount reinforcement kit
    - The cam tab reinforcement
    - The UCA double shear
    - Coil bucket reinforcement plates I'm going to have @Kwikvette cut out for me.
    - I'll do bypass hoops
    - The rack mounting crossmember will get some reinforcement
-I'll be making a rack slider like I have on the Tacoma
    - I'll be making a cross member looped over the engine from coil bucket to coil bucket
    - Solid motor mounts
    - Frame motor mount gussets

I'm sure there is more I'm not thinking of right now, but hopefully I'll see it when I get elbow deep in this.

Dirt Designs might be able to mail you some of these engine hoop anchors (Socalmoto@gmail.com)

How's your rack slider been holding up? Machinist friend made me one out of 1" .250 wall like yours. Just have to install it which won't happen until I do a few other things...

I think I'd be interested in those. That thread is from a long time ago. Is dude even still making them?

that's awesome, I was waiting my BAMF sliders for about six months and at the end was spending 5 hours total of driving to them in a new location.

I waited a good long time to get my 1/4" skid plates from BAMF. I don't know of any other vendor that offers something other than 3/16" for 2G tacomas. These things are beefy! and well worth the wait (and weight). Communication was a bit lacking, but I think that Jerry is down some people and working hard to keep up with the orders. The new shop in Grass Valley is nice and I didn't mind the drive. Bonus was that he didn't supply the BAMF logo for the front of the IFS skid, so I have a blank slate with three holes for Nelson to work with. I just need to decide what I want on the front. "this side up" comes to mind.

I’d give it a try. Tommy (TT Motorsports Tommy) went to high school with him and said he’s doing some off road stuff and a lot of structural welding these days.

Ya... I get the issues about not having enough help. I don't get the issues about lack of communication though. And the lead times are ridiculous.

Let me just put this in the perspective I'm looking at.

I build houses. I start building in a Phase of X # of houses. Normally it's 6 houses (starting on the same day) some times it's 9 houses (starting on the same day).

If it took me 6 months to build a Phase (of 9 houses) I would lose my job. Let me put that another way... I can build 9 houses in less time than it takes Jerry to build a set of fucking rock sliders. Bro... That's ridiculous!

Maybe I'm being unrealistic. But, I know labor shortages, material shortages, material back orders, delays with local jurisdictions... Oh... and I get to deal with the weather. At a level that's exponential to what Jerry deals with.

I think they were done and just waiting powder coating which didn't happen at all, looks like a supply chain issue.

Ya... It's just too bad your local fabricator doesn't do much to support you.

I have other reasons for not being very sympathetic to this issue. And maybe I'm being harsh. I don't think so... And I really don't care if I am.

I just hope Jerry fixed the design of his rock sliders though, because both @Blue Canary and @essjay had their BAMF sliders fold up in to their door on Rubicon a couple years ago. There was too much unsupported span at the rear portion of the sliders.

I don't really disagree with any of that Matt but let me play devils advocate. I have no skin in the game and don't know anyone at BAMF. I just like to cause shit. lol

Let's say you are a framer. You have a 5 man crew. All experienced high-end journeyman framers. You can frame 2 simple 1600 sq ranch production homes a month with the crew. You commit to build 10 homes in 5 months.

A week into it you lose a guy. You hire a rookie cause everyone who knows shit about shit is already working in this economy. Now a day later you lose another guy and hire another rookie. Now your crew sits at 5 guys but two of them need to be taught things. Still think you make the deadline?

I think you're better off without powder coat. I do the 2 part Raptorliner. I holds up awesome, doesn't fade, and you can easily tough it up.

All shops miss them. It's pervasive in the metal fab industry. All the big names miss lead times and have since before covid. Consider it a time honored tradition. You know, like telling the rookie on the crew to go get the board stretcher. lol

And let me make something clear.

I build houses... I know how to frame, but I'm not a framer. I'm responsible for...

Foundation all the way through handing the keys to the home owner. I can get 9 houses ALL THE WAY built in less than 6 months. Not just one part of the process.

I'm on the opposite end. High end customs are all I do. From site work to CofO takes at least 2 years.

What's the current price per square on the home your selling. Build price not sell price.
