You could go the allpro , Deaver, etc; route or you can just do a quick refreshing of springs (mine were pretty flat also) with the addition of 2 Ford springs per side bringing them back to life.....

    for about $ 50-$60 & take the remaining $300 + & spend it on chicks & booze ...(j/k:D)

seriously, you can do this on the cheap (economical) & gain the aftermarket spring benefit....just my $.02 ;)

Those don't look like the OEMs, they look pretty new. What'd you do to them?

Where would I be able to get the Ford spring?

Did the Ford springs help correct the axle wrap at all?

Doesn't the stock Tacoma ride lower in the front? So I probably should have been looking for a less than 2.5" leaf set up so set level, right?

    Oh, I'll post pics tonight!

It was off of a late 80's early 90's Ranger if I remember right, but they don't have to be Ford springs, I've used Chevy springs too, another member here did the same only with adding 2 Dodge Dakota springs, but I noticed on his build thread that the springs he used were considerably thicker & I'm thinking he may have been a bit "over sprung" for the dampening & the weight of our trucks (which are pretty light in the ass-end) As long as the width is the same & if using slightly thicker leafs, you'd be ok, I see you're already running Billies in the rear too , & your stock leaves aren't really that bad as far as I can see, you'd get great results pretty sure.....;)

I'll call around to some junk yards this weekend. There are quite a few around here.

Regardless of the brand, they do need to be 60mm, or something like that right. Basically the same width of the OEMs?

Yeah, this is the most important part (width)

The length is somewhat important ( you'll have to cut some length, no worries I'll give exact measurements later)

I think if more guys would do this MOD they'd kick themselves after for not doing it before , saving major $$$$$$$$ with awesome results...;)

I appreciate this info as well, old man.

Been looking at ways to revive my flat springs before I throw in my 5100's for the rear.

    Thanks!

i know this is an old thread, but i was wondering if i could get some help, i am also lifting my truck with a skyjacker lift and it comes with an AAL for the the rear but my springs r worn out and im worried with just the add a leaf and new shocks, the rear will still sit lower than the front, so i thought about adding a leaf out of another pickup as well as i have an 80s ranger, 80s dodge, and a 93 mazda at my disposal, just wondering leaf to use, ie: should i take the bottom spring out of one of the trucks and add it to mine and just cut it short of the clips in my pack? just wanna make sure before i tear my truck apart, thanks

If the leafs are shot I'm thinking the best plan is new leafs not a bandaid like taking parts off a Ford.

Bro' I was messing with you....:D the link I provided is to my spring build page.. thats what I do..........:)

Most the after market AAL's I've seen are really not much better than the stock 'Yota springs & seem to have a shelf life of about 6 months to a year (depending on driving habits, usage, etc;) From all the rebuilds I've done on 1st & 2nd gens., adding 2 Chevy/Ford springs per side to stock leafs have been getting right at 3" of sustainable lift. & this is done without the over load, how much lift you want ?

    This page from thread....
    vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

So for as far as keeping tight its just flat washered both sides & if you look in pic you'll notice a slight warping of the clamp ends over & around the spring, this is how tight you want to get these, no more, no less.. It's tight on the pack w/tension but not so tight that thread stretch occurrs & the whole mess loosens up....

I haven't seen nor heard from anyone using them that they have loosened up yet.... & its been over a month, keeping fingers crossed but I'm pretty sure I'd heard something by now if they had..

right...i just read that thread but i guess i missed that part haha. so what springs from a ford should i look for? something with a good arc and about 2 and 1/2 wide or so? i got some old bronco springs and some old ranger springs at home, ill have to look at those and see if they r any use to me. and i would like to keep my overload if i need it bc i haul my atv around quite a bit. but with these springs i may not need them, what do u think? thanks

Theres your answer ... A few that have had their springs done also haul quads & other shit with no compromising of load handling...

Look for springs that are 2 & 3/8 " wide
