Just noticed this a couple days ago. If any of you are familiar with the Golden Spike trail in Moab, Utah you know that there are countless ledges to climb and drop off of on that trail. There was one ledge that I dropped off of that bit me. I came down HARD, and I mean HARD on my driver side slider. I got out to check everything and the slider was scratched and had just the slightest dent. It wasn't until I got home and was doing a more thorough check of stuff on the truck that i noticed the small dent in my rocket panel. My sliders have a little bit of clearance under the rockers but are pretty tight to the body. I've come down on them hard before but they've never flexed into the body. Just more evidence of how hard I hit this time. Oh well, you pay to play.

    Ouch!!

Get some grease or fluid film on the damaged rocker and lower fender to slow the rust before winter...you did bang it hard because your sliders look really heavy duty!

stirring the pot for sure. ;)

Agreed. I'm positive that hybrids would have done exactly the same thing.

I have some color matched paint. It's already been touched up. And yes as I said in my post I hit the slider REALLY HARD. I've been wheeling a long time and taken some hard hits, but I think this one was the hardest. Honestly I'm pretty happy with how well the slider held up considering the hard blow. No complaints here.

yeah hybrids would have done the same thing, if not worse depending on wall thickness.

I don't think a SAC would help there...

    Now lockers are always better.

wow, it lasted quite a while. Might as well get the water pump and idler pulleys replaced too.

theyre not too expensive. I know there is a kit on ebay from time to time that has everything you need. I did mine at 146k miles and left the pulleys. I got the belt and water pump/thermostat at NAPA.

I would rethink it. When I purchased it, the controller only allowed it to spool in, the switch was broken and didn't spool out. I called smittybilt and they said they'd replace it and that was back in July and I haven't seen it yet. I've used the winch a total of like 3 times and then the toggle switch to free spool jammed in the 'engaged' position. Tried and tried but couldn't get it to move.
