I was going to purchase some type of mounting system for my hi-lift but then I thought it would work if I just put it in my truck box! Seems like it'll work perfect. Plus it's out of the elements and secure! Why don't more people just do this (if you have a truck box)?

Just went through this entire thread.

Great info. Ordering mine today from Amazon, can't beat tax free, and I have a prime membership so 2 day shipping on all my orders. I am a bit of an Amazon whore.

The mounting ideas are excellent, will be back with pics when done.

    Search really does work here.:D

After reading through this whole thread I had to pull the trigger on one of these! I figured with my new bigger tires I am getting soon that factory jack was going to be pretty much worthless.

I got the 48" Xtreme with the winch kit also, for right around 150 shipped from Amazon.

Now I just need to get a box to store it in. Will post pics when it arrives.

I'm bumping this old thread instead of starting a new one. I have a stock 09 and wony be adding sliders or new bumpers anytime soon. I have a hi lift with the wheel attachment but was wondering if it would be easier or better to get the bumper attachment in order to be able to use my jack ? I don't know if the rear stock bumper will support being used as a jack point and I know the front won't, so best to use the wheels and a jack stand?

The factory bumpers will definitely not handle that kind of load. You can use the receiver hitch on the back as a lifting point as well, but it's kind of sketchy as the Jack likes to kick out to one side

Never thought of this. Great idea.

Great thread too. I just got the black hilift on Amazon and have been wondering where it will be going. I carry a lot of gear when out camping.

I just used some washers ground flat on two sides, some bolts and nuts, then some wingnuts to keep it tight. The cost was $6 from the hardware stare. Slid it all in the bed rail system.

Hate to resurrect such an old thread...but don't wanna start a new one. So are you guys saying the only way to use these is if you have sliders or aftermarket bumpers? I've been looking for a jack just so I can have something to get out of some mud, or change a tire since my truck didn't come with the bottle jack

Same, I didn't get a bottle jack with my truck and even if I did, it's lifted too high for one. I ordered a 60" Hi-Lift Jack and now I'm wondering where I can use it on the truck since I don't currently have any sliders...

I'm also trying to make a decision on where to mount it, who's hardware to use, etc
