My LED Build - What am I missing?

Tried putting my LED dome bulb in tonight, but it just flickered super fast and was super dim... Probably similar problem... Grrrr, wish I had just bought one from www.superbrightleds.com Guess I'll go check theirs out, hopefully it will be designed for 12V systems...

 

Isn't that the "known" problem many of us are having? Do the LEDs from SuperBright actually solve it?

 

I hope so, I just ordered 3 of them LOL... As long as the LED is rated for the appropriate voltage, it should work (in theory)... The ones from www.superbrightleds.com are rated for a wide range of voltages, and since the other LED's I ordered from them worked in the dashboard, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and the return packing slip handy...

 

My fingers are crossed and I'm eagerly awaiting feedback after you get them installed.

 

Okay, so I am going to go to Radioshack tomorrow and pick up some 100 ohm 1 watt resistors and see if I can get the ones I already have to work... I'll update you when I get it together... Looks like that is a fix a lot of guys are using...

Soooooo.....

Today I added 2 - 100 ohm 1 Watt resistors to my dome light bulb and each map light bulb and they worked perfectly. Neither would come on with just 1 resistor on them!!! I read somewhere that someone got them to work with just 1 resistor on each bulb, but I had to use two n each to get them to work... Plan to take pics after dark tonight and post them.

Got the resistors at Radio Shack, they were 2 for $1.50.

 

Here's a few pictures to show the difference between the LED's and the original bulbs... Since my camera is smarter than I am, it holds the shutter open longer so the pictures aren't so dark which makes the inside appear brighter than it actually is... But it's still nice and bright inside... Link to album here for those that the pictures don't show up for....

 

Here are my latest additions, and yes, the bulbs from www.superbrightleds.com worked in the Map Lights with no resistors needed, the dome light did not though... Oh well, I got the one off of ebay to work by adding 2 - 100ohm 1 watt resistors to it...

Replaced A/C Panel LED's with 3 Item #NEO4-BHP Blue




Finished my Dome (Ebay) and Map Light Bulbs (Map Light Item #3022-CWHP4)
Nice and bright inside now!

Just put them in today, but I tested it after dark and so far I'm liking it!

 

They look good, but I have to ask what made you try LANDSCAPE bulbs?!?

I went to Superbright's site, searched on the (WLED-CWHP15-TAC) part number you provided, and was taken to a page that labels the bulbs "LED Replacement Bulbs for Landscape Tier & Path Light Fixtures". (See attached screenshot.) What am I missing?

Scotrinaf, just a quick question but which bulbs did you use in your Gauge cluster? they look waaay brighter then the ones i used (WLEDx5) good tip on the resistors, i'll be picking up some tomorrow!

 

Sure, what is the year model on your truck?

I just used the standard bulbs, but my camera made them appear brighter because I had it on night setting, so it held the shutter open longer. They are standard brightness.
