haha I just meant just 2 coats of the nite shades. I think the clear coats might darken it a LITTLE bit...but meh.

Thanks for the detailed write up! How have these held up? Have you done touch up or redo? I have heard conflicting things.. these have gone purple or faded quickly...

I did 3 coats of tint and 3 coats of clear along with rubbin compond and plastic x and wax didn't change at all. still dark as hell but look good and you can still see my break lights day or night. Backing up with tinited windows and tail lights at night is impossible tho. :)
No issues with fade or turning purple.

just FYI, my truck did NOT pass inspection. I only did two lights coats and the light is barely dimmed. You just aren't aloud to tint your tail lights at all. At least here in gay Utah

Yeah my LED's are extremely bright through them and I leave my trailer lights on full time and still got a fix it ticket for tinted tail lights in Utah...

ok I need some help guys ive tinted my third brake light 3 times sanding all the tint off 3 times and its starting to make me mad.

1st try i got all the way to 3 coats of clear and it had a white haze to it so I sanded it back down. using gas as my cleaner and i also shook the can for a good minute and on try 3 i shook for 2 mins

2nd try i got 1 coat of tint and the tint had cracks in it big cracks so i sanded it back down. using gass as my cleaner so my next try i clean it with soap and water then rubbing alcohol.

3rd try got 1 coat of tint and big cracks in the tint again! WTF??????
instead of sanding it down im thinking of melting it down

any ideas or input please feel free to post or pm

Hows the weather there? High humidity or raining?

I had the same thing twice too. Sand it all down, get everything off down to the bottom of the scratches. If you use gas, make sure to totally remove it before starting again. Make sure theres no chemicals on the surface at all.

Make sure the area your spraying in is dry, no humidity or moisture. Start with a extremely light coat and apply a second when its still a little tacky, .5 hour. Do another coat if needed and then lacquer on top. No sanding until base lacquer coat is built up.

    Not enough.
Cracking is usually the root cause of cold temps and/or moisture.

49ers Tacoma also made a good point.
