first post few dumb questions

not really a big truck guy but im a serious motorcycle gearhead. anyway i have a 2010 access cab trd sport. the truck is bone stock. im due for some tires so im thinking of pulling the rims having them powdercoated flat black, putting on bf goodrick ta's KO. i think the 265/70/17's will fit. please correct me if im wrong guys. and i was also wanting to lower it just a tad. or leveling kit? just not wanting a big gap over the tires. and it would be easier for my dogs to jump in the back. your input is certainaly appreciated. oh and if you guys have pics of such a setup that would be appreciated too. thanks and aloha

 

You won't notice a different in height with the tires. My truck is lifted 3-4 inches and my dogs hop in just fine. If you haul your motorcycle in your bed you can also use the ramp for the dogs.

 

You are correct with the tires. They will fit fine. I don't see the point in lowering a 4x4 truck...kinda defeats the purpose. If you are a PreRunner, thats a different story. That said, this is the absolute baddest lowered 2nd gen I have seen...

Thanks guys for the replys!! It is a pre runner. I thought 4 wheel drive was a waste considering about as much off road I do is some nasty dirt roads to some riding spots. If the roads get too bad I unload there.
As far as lowering it..,, in "aworthapponenrs" post the lowered one has about 3-4 inches to the fender. Now his signature pic has the same tires I'm getting. The gap is much bigger. Maybe 5-6. I am wanting about the same gap as the lowered one but with the ta's

That's the only problem of many that I had in my 2007 that they addressed in my 2012.

 

What about eibach drop coils? Or if a leveling kit raises the front to match the back can you drop the rear to match the front? Thanks and aloha

 

That would be for the front, no?

That would basically be what the Tundra Racing PreRunner drop kit does. It lowers the front a little too...

If you want to go lower, that is really your best option from what I have seen (though I am no expert). Just stick with the stock tire size, and I think you would be fine. my BFG's are 265-70-R16 (same as the 265-65-R17)
