Yep. Getting it covered for free. Apparently Toyota is being super stingy with the dealerships about giving out parts. One guy I talked to said they've allotted 3 clock springs per week per dealership and no more. He said mine will be a priority though since I no longer have a working airbag. Hopefully be here in a week.

 

Yeah I knew it'd be ridiculous but thought I'd see for the hell of it anyway.

So, 56k miles, meticulously cared for mechanically, anyone have any thoughts on what my trucks worth private party, as is?

Dent in the rear passenger door, and rock chips, otherwise body is good except what I cut on fenders under the flares.

Not planning on selling just curious.

I added up all mods and then discounted 35%, there was close to 10k in mods, if including 1400 in wheels and tires which I think is fair.

added to a "very good" KBB value and I'm getting about 25k

Seem reasonable for my truck as is, with everything including OBA, except the recovery gear in my bed box and my ham radio?

I realize it'd have to be the right buyer but think anyone would want her haha? She's gotten used but I've maintained above and beyond Toyotas required maintenance. (I am in school for diesel mechanics)

Otherwise I'd need new bedsides and fenders to take her back to stockish.

Throwing around some ideas in my head but no real plans to sell at all.

 

yea the 19-20k is for stockish tacomas

hard to really put a value on the mods...you may get lucky and find someone willing to pay the extra $$ for them, but i'd imagine it's hard these days to get much of any return on the mods..

i'm up there too with mods and at this point i'm invested to far to pull out, so i'm riding it down to the last bolt...you'd be best to part out what you can and hope for the best return on the other mods

It's hard to get much out of the mods. Savvy private party buyers will know that you can't get a dealer to give you trade for them, so they'll refuse to pay extra as well, citing real market value.

Dealers will often argue mods decrease value on the vehicle because they cause problems by mucking with the factory engineering. And for most customers, they're right.

Modding is intensely personal, as is the value 99% of the time.

 

I'll probably keep it but I was thinking maybe I'd sell her off and buy a 3rd gen T4R more built or maybe a cruiser and then use the rest of the money as part of a down payment on a 09 ish cummins in a year or two.

So I was just curious what I might get out of it now.

 

R you still running it like this? I am doing the same thing w/ my new Dakars, but am debating new lines. I hear its a pain in the ass.

 

Yep haven't changed it but not sure if it'd be good to go if I got longer shocks, at least with the dakars.

New lines aren't that big of a pain if you can bleed your brakes yourself. Might have to do a little dremel work to the mount but other than that fairly simple to unscrew the lines and add in the new ones and then bleed.

Another trick is to bend the mounting plate forward so your lines go more straight up rather than the come out and then up thing they do now. Don't over-do it though.

 

UNLESS Toyota overtorques the flare nuts at factory such that they exceed the ID of line threads, in which case you're close to completely fucked and are probably going to have to have your brake lines replaced. Ask me how I know. Or HBmurphy.

Nice Build! yeah sorry you got that grille guard stolen, but it led you to the ARB. BEST way to go IMO, at least for off-road/4x4.
