Wheel & Tire Combo?

Hi everyone! I'm new here and this is my first post. Forgive me if this isn't the correct place to pose my question. I have an 07 Prerunner DC TRD and I'm wanting to go with a new set of tires and wheels without a lift or mods. Would I be able to go with a 285/60/18 and a 18x9 wheel without any rub? Thanks in advance!

 

31.5" x 11.25" .. I think I see some rubbage in your future.

 

I thought I remembered seeing a mod say something about this setup being ok since this tire was under the 32" mark but I could be imagining things too.

 

I ran 32x12 for a whole and it rubbed pretty good, if you have around 4.5" bs it won't rub too much though.

 

There have been several threads on this topic. Some people have run this combo with absolutely no rub on a stock setup, and others have rubbed like crazy. Do a search on the tire size and you should get quite a few threads to run through. This is the setup I am purchasing and will soon be able to tell you, but it will be a more couple weeks. I am expecting to rub some, but hopefully a little trimming will take care of it. We shall see.

Do you have a lift on your Tacoma?

 

Krimson,I don't have any lift on it at all. It just seems like I read somewhere that KPT was saying that a few here were running the 285/60/18 , 18x9 with a 4.5 BS and they would fit with no lift but I could be mistaken.

Thanks for the links Yeti. I will take a look at those. I've been reading a little more and I think to be on the safe side,installing the 5100's to get the front end up 1.75" might be the best bet.

 

Good idea on installing the 5100s.

I had 285/60R18 tires with 18x9" 0mm offset (5" backspacing) on my Tacoma when it was stock. The tires rubbed slightly at full lock, and it rubbed when turning in reverse.

The amount of rubbing will probably vary depending upon the style of tires too. In the same size a highway (H/T) tire will probably rub less than an all-terrain (A/T), which will rub less than a maximum/ mud terrain (M/T).
