My dome lights don't come on when I unlock the truck with the keyfob, but only when I open a door...is everybody's truck like this too? My previous vehicle turned them on when I unlocked it, which was handy sometimes.

Reason I'm asking is because I want to wire the dome lights to my rock lights under the frame, and it would be pretty cool to have them come on when the dome lights come on, especially while I'm walking to my truck at night.

Any input? How would I go about the wiring? I'm thinking it's as easy as splicing a wire into the 12v hot wire going to the dome lights, and running it into a splice on the rock light 12v hot wire.

Mine turn on when I unlock with the key fob. Except one time two weeks ago, leaving for work, the dome did not turn on. I was groggy but I still paused in the driveway because it caught me off guard. All day I wracked my brain trying to figure out if I had switched something the day before. Never did figure it out. Every day since it's lit up just fine when I unlock.

Thanks for the link! That's awesome!

I got a 5m long strip of cool white LED's from ebay. They sell them in rolls for $22, and they can be cut to length or just used as one long one. I cut mine to length on side, and the same for the other, and was left with about 3 feet extra. They are waterproof, and have a 3M backing tape that is very strong. so far, I love them! I will be adding more to the wheel wells, and front/rear bumpers to get everything lit up under the truck. I will also be doing my bed lights using these. Heres a link to the product.

Crappy iPhone pics, but they're very bright. I'll take better photos this weekend.

I'll take some this weekend with my DSLR and post them.

I thought about those too, but after seeing these in person on my friends truck (his were RGB color changing with an IR remote) I decided to pull the trigger.

The dome light will turn on when you hit the unlock if it was previously locked.

Get out of truck lock the doors, come back and the unlock will turn the dome light on.

Get out of truck without locking doors, come back and the unlock will not turn the dome light on.

Just what I've gathered from my truck.

I have sliders now:D and I love them! I think they are a good pair for oversize tires with the automatic tranny. Lost a couple mpg with them but I still average 17 mpg both city and hwy each.

Not the case for me. My truck can be locked all day at work, and when I walk up to it at night to unlock using the key fob, the ambers flash, it beeps, unlocks, but the dome light remains off until I physical pull the handle and open the door.
