so i found a deal on OME 885xs and 5100s all around, i have an access cab prerunner not 4x4, i dont want the full 3" cause i dont have the money for UCAs, i want 2.5" of lift in the front, what will i get with the 885xs cause i know they have a little higher spring rate, and if it is the full 3" what springs should i get to have 2.5" of llft and the billies at 0

    thanks

Since your front end is a little lighter, access cab pre runner, i would go with 884s if you dont want UCAs. 885s will probably get you real close to 3" Actually if you are concerned about UCAs you should look into a spindle lift.

    Texoma- thanks!

T4COCH40S- yeah I'm thinking about it I'm just not sure! I want the Pre runner look so I don't know if I want to AAL or not, I don't want it to have to much of a lean but just a little higher in the front

evanmb31- spindles are pricey, and I was thinking about just getting the shocks and getting the 884s but I want 2.5 and I heard those give you 2" which I have right now with spacers

when you say prerunner lift do you mean socal lift being alittle higher in front? i have a pic somewhere that shows what the lift looks like with just the 885s and 5100s and a stock tsb lift in the rear, no AAL. ill find it and post in here

If you end up needing UCAs with the new coilovers then spindles would probably be the cheaper option. From what i have read 885xs ushually get 2.5 inches with double cab 4x4s. Some access cabs are more like 2 3/4. Just dont want this to happen http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/244811-5100-ome-885-install-problems-help.html somehow he got 4 inches, but this might be the only case of that happening with 885s on an access cab prerunner. You will probably be fine with 885s, you just might get a little more lift than others because your front end is lighter.

I had similar measurements (about 3.15" settled to 2.9" after couple months) and know atleast 2 others that have the same lift and still use their stock UCAs.

That looks awesome! Did you raise the 5100's at all after you did the aal? Got any pics of that set up? I'm doing my lift this weekend, and am trying to figure out where to set the billies with the 885x and tsb+1.5 aal. (Only want to take it apart once) haha

So should I stick with the 885xs or what, cause I don't have 4x4 and only an access can so I don't want it to high, I just wanted to lift it enough to give it a little more of a lean and ride great without doing anything to the back besides putting the 5100s back there, I feel like mattmxracer has what I want and I wouldn't AAL

I would do 884s to be safe, but that is just my opinion. I am installing 885s on my access cab but i have LR UCAs an dakars. If you want the front noticeable higher than the rear then go with the 885s but theres more of a chance that you will need aftermarket ucas.

Just doing a little math here...

    Coils run about $170
    Front bilstiens run about $175

Now you will be over 2" of lift which means you may experience alignment issues (some say no, I say yes from my experience). For this reason you may need UCAs, which means another $375

For a total of $345 w/o UCAs and $720 with em'
Oh yeah… you also lose droop and stiffen things up a bit basically making your truck more street worthy than off-road worthy.

    ~OR~

You get spindles and maintain a factory ride, alignment will be tits, get enough lift to clear 285's, and you get to keep your stock shocks and coils. Spindles sale for $485 - $510 for one brand and $800-$1200 for others.

Was already mentioned, but just thought I'd bring this up again.

I have a prerunner and I personally would never lift my truck any other way. Every 2wd truck I have owned has had spindles, the first one of which originally had coils. The ride was crap regardless of the different brands I tried until I finally got talked into spindles. Have never lifted a 2wd truck any other way since.

Can't afford sprindles, I have 97k on my stock shocks so I need new ones regardless, but I don't think that deal could work cause the guy had an 2012 4x4 DC so I don't think they will work

Khaos let me know how the lift goes once you get the 5100s and send pics if you can I'd appreciate it

so im confused, i called DSM and they said i will only get about 1.75" of lift with the 885xs and bilsteins at 0, he said i would have to set the billies at .85 to get about 2.5" of lift. does that make sense? i told him i only have the access cab 2wd and still said thats what ill get at 0, im so confused! why cant it be easier with shocks and springs, it would be with a spindle or coil over but cant afford

all i want to see is an access cab with a stock back with 5100 shocks, no AAL or anything, and the 885xs and 5100s at 0 in the front so i can see what it looks like, yes i know there will be the "bro lean" but everyone has 4x4s and its completly different then a 2wd, more weight so if anyone can find this, my questions would be answered

    thanks
