I think we need to get a mod day together. I did my AAL's by myself and leafs should be easier, but I wouldnt recomend it. An extra hand will go a long way.

Lets see, 12, 17, 19, and 22(maybe 21) MM sockets, 19 mm wrench, breaker bar, recommend a tube for the wrench as the 19mm nut near my gas tank was the only one that was stubborn, 12mm Flare Wrench for the brake lines, grease for the bushings on the springs, small thing of brake fluid unless you plan on replacing your brake fluid completely.

Two jack stands, and a floor jack with wheels will make lining the axle back up MUCH easier. Removing the top braket on the brake lines makes that much easier. You must remove the shackle where it attaches to the frame, so hit that bolt early on. On the driver side, this required me to lower my spare tire. The new leafs are easier to install if you unbolt the shock. My icons are now my limiting factor to droop.

Two of us, in the cold and slightly raining conditions took 5 hours for lines and leafs. If you are doing both, do the drivers side first. Pull the tire, brake lines, leaf pack in that order. Install new brake lines, new leaf pack with double wrapped end going to fixed point (forward), attach u bolts then bleed brakes on drivers side. Having done a set, I could probably knock it out within 2-3 hours.

I has blisters on my hands from removing them then reinstalling them. The nuts get hot as fuck too.

 

I didn't get blisters but we used a little WD-40 and took breaks to keep them cool.

 

Would be real nice if they cut us a break with 5 orders. If we can't get to 5, see if they'll at least give us a discount, maybe 10% or something ???

I saw some guys talking about air tanks.

Here is my ViAIR 2.5 gallon tank under the bed







the whole thing hangs about 1" below the frame rails and its right behind teh center of the axle. you would have much bigger problems if you bounced it off of something.

I also had another design for the crossmember that would hold the entire weight of the truck if needed.

That wasn't U-Bolt related. That was dropping the whole axle on your finger related.
