According to a bunch of other threads, the dealer has to do it for you on the 11-13's. Takes them 5 minutes. Page 586 of the owners manual.

The beep is only for the driver, I believe. Never tested it though. Can't hurt to order an extra, they're cheap.

I wish this was a great solution for me. I just hate having to put the belt on for short slow distances. I try to ride daily with my belt on. So then I'd have these little metal plgus I'd have to put in take out and it'd be annoying.

I wished my cable with the Techstream software could disable a 2013, but it wont for me.

Yeah, on the 12-13's the dealer has to do it. However, if you ask them nicely, they will.. I had the tech out on a test drive for a cabin rattle, and while on the drive, I asked if he could turn off the chime... Picked up the truck a few hours later, and NO MORE BEEP!!

Never understood people who get annoyed with that sound. Wear your seatbelt it goes away. Kind of odd, eh? Free mod.

Thankfully my 08 is easy to disable the chime. I couldn't stand that damned beep as I was moving my trailer around up and down launches. I'd rather not be strapped in when close to water.

I still want to use my seatbelt though, so those don't work and I don't want a massive extender. I haven't gone to dealer yet since the tricks don't work on certain 2011's and all since then.

Fuh. It's sooo obnoxious and totally overkill.

Kind of out there aren't you? Where's the fun in securing yourself and not face planting into the windshield...

Just put your damn seatbelt on...You should never permit an unbelted passenger..If you are found to be at fault in an accident and they die or are injured you are going to lose EVERYTHING...house, car, work, freedom...Put your stupid seatbelt on...

I work on a construction site and constantly going from one side of the job to the other. I never wear a seat belt onsite. No need. I just got my Tacoma on Tuesday. I'll have to ask them about that.
Glad I'm not the only one.

Completely agree. I always wear mine and passengers do too. Leaving my apartment complex takes forever, I'll put it on as I go and don't want to get bugged for 1 minute like crazy. Or going to other end to get mail. Common, we don't need to be bothered.

I wear mine as I should, but my dog also sets off passenger one and I have to hear it EVERY time we go anywhere.

I just posted about the buckle spring mod in the same thread max2 linked to: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/186505-2012-seat-belt-chime-disable-4.html

It's an inelegant solution but if your dealership says that the commands aren't available on your truck, it does work.

I'm pleased, Dog in passenger seat: airbag off, no beeping. Dad in passenger seat: airbag on, no beeping. Success!

I'd be interested to hear if someone with a 2013 TRD Sport had luck turning it off with a TechStream or had luck at a dealership - I don't know if my dealership guys were incompetent or if it's a trim-related option.
