From what I can tell I think Kangaroo weighs a bit less than deer and especially an elk. Also you better have some tall hoops otherwise an elk might just go over them. I doubt an animal would bend your frame though, I was referring to colliding with other vehicles or solid objects...

An ARB would leave some nasty damage on just about anything it hits. At some point, you do want the bumper to yield, that is how vehicles are made. If I'm gonna be hitting elk, I don't plan on hitting them at 80 MPH. And if I do, the ARB is gonna take some serious hit, even if it bends or something. But these things are stout!

Not saying that other aftermarket brands are better or worse, just defending ARBs in particular.

 

Arbs aren't that stout then...seen two threads here about arb bumpers getting trashed from an impact. Just be small kangaroos

Also approach angle is horrible and they stick out too far.

Ill find one.

I'm not saying they aren't tough, I just don't think they are as tough as everyone claims. Plus they just look awful to me... haha and maybe people have it mixed up and they are made for tagging Wallabys instead of kangaroos haha

From what I can tell they hold up well over all but dent easily. Part of their design to allow the airbags to trigger still and to help absorb the impact I guess...

 

Some are definitely uglier that others. IMO Tim's "pointy" ones win the prize for ugliest headlight hoop. Closely followed in 2nd by Erics.

I think allpros new plate bumper hoops look ok..

 

Another thing to thing about in Monte's deer link, is that looks like a young white tail. Muley's are a bit bigger on average. Hell a lot of the deer I have seen down south aren't much bigger than typical dogs like labs really... Although that white tail looks a bit bigger than that.

i am with monte....im not a fan of full hopes just the center, but i do think they offer more protection against deer or elk

 

eh. Just the center hoop will help with shit like that. Plus..thats a 5 lugger. Ours are higher up.

I have almost hit like 3 deer and every time it looks like my truck sits higher then it so i m not worried about it hitting a cheap headlight if it even does.

if you hit an elk or moose..you screwed no matter what

 

Hey Ben...I had a Badlands bumper on the Raisin. It was very strong. I never hit a deer but it got used a ton on trees and got smashed a lot on the rocks. My buddy Matt hit a large Mule deer doe doing 60 once and it messed the deer up bad but did absolutely nothing to his truck. I would highly recommend his bumpers. In my opinion which counts for nothing, ARB's are fawking ugly. I would run a stock bumper before I put an ARB on it. I hate anything ARB with a passion though.

 

Everyone hates on what has been around the longest and some of the most widely used. I've seen this in technology (Think Microsoft) and in the off road world, (think ARB).

Everyone is different. I'm a plate bumper guy, ARBs are my favorite bumpers by far. Each to his own.

 

I like ARB, just not the bumper. haha
