What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

eBay has everything with TRD on it.

 

I'll be brief but that is almost my story. Had a 2000 - was going to Por 15 the rusty frame P aint O ver R ust - put the putty knife to the frame to clean it up - knife went right thru - took it into dealer - wouldn't let me leave with it - got a loaner - got 1 and a half x book - put it down on a 2008.

 

I actually got it on Amazon lol.

Its really supposed to be for a trunk.
The one that is for a grille has little bolts sticking out
so its hard to mount, this one is flat on the back and comes with a precut 3M mounting tape.

 

Not one in particular, used a few cubby ones, but also a few LED ones for wiring. I did it mostly myself just messin with them. Got the lights from Kragen, $20 bucks.

 

Is there a write up on this?

Wanna do my truck with POR 15, since you are a pro now?
(mine is still new, so there is nothing to clean first)

 

How long ago did the buy back happen for you George? I lost mine a little over a month ago, have had my 07 now for 2 weeks. Are you happy with your 08? Are you like me now and hear Friday the 13th music in your head when you see a speck of rust ?? LOL Did you POR 15 your 08? Thankfully I was able to buy my 07 and keep about 1K in change for any potential probs.

Hmmmmm.... This POR 15 stuff looks like a good idea. lol Do you have to use it all at once, or can you reseal and use later? I see a gallon can, and a 6 pack of smaller cans on Amazon.

 

Hey MadMan! Hoosiers Unite! I'm near the Brookville Reservoir, so bring her on over and I'll slap a coat on LOL. Now is the time to do it while there is little rust. Here is a pic that shows the wheel well before POR 15, the frame was still in really good shape, even the stickers on the frame looked new.

I'll try to get some better pics now that the POR 15 is completely dry. It's hard to get far enough away while under the truck to take pics, the camera doesn't want to focus that close.

 

If you are up to it, I would be willing to trade a dinner for your professional skills.

I'm on north side of Indy, but ride my bike down your way all the time.

 

added the bumper/hitch reinforcement brackets.
installed shackles and 3/4'' turn/tail leds on the brute force fab bumper.
made a harness w/ trailer wire so it can be easily unplugged if the bumper needs to come off.
looks good at night. just need to swap the fronts from just marker to marker/turn.
the junction box for trailer wiring was a good idea to make lighting much easier to add.

 

I washed the truck, discovered a hit and run and a couple of door rub marks

Pulled the relay out for the horn so it would stop phantom honking LOL

 

In the name of all that is holy, tell me that you have that fused near the battery. You need to get that power wire secured better and wrapped in wire loom ASAP because that's just asking for trouble.

 

He's saying that he used the trailer wiring is all connected in. There should be a cover on it. So it's already on a relay in the fuse box under the hood.
