On another note. Anyone have any broken gold pieces that they want to get rid of
//?? I don't pay much. But if theres a broken chain, bracelet, charm, coin, etc. that is lying around and you want some money for mods or trade, I'm looking for a few grams of gold.

I was walking around the local mall to me over the weekend and found a broken ear ring that was 3 grams. Week before found a chain bracelet @10 grams.

For anyone curious, not going to sell it. I plan on melting it down and making a couple new pieces for my children.

I saw some of your pictures a few pages back, those are some impressive fish. I try to go at least once a day, either on the way to or back from work. I live on the Occoquan so that's what I mostly fish, depending on the weather and my mood bass, catfish, and crappie. Would love to get into some snake heads, an 18lb fish hitting a bass lure sounds like a lot of fun.

Can you guys tell me what was up with the seized LCA nut? I just came back from alignment and they said I had a seized rear lca nut. Kinda hard to get the alignment right when you can only articulate one section of the arm. Matt....I'll keep you in mind for future mods/repairs/etc. if you don't mind.
ps. I haven't caught a snackhead yet, but I'm planning on it! Let's go fishing!

Maybe a fishing meet-up is in order?

Anyone know a good fishing store that does repairs? I have an irreplaceable Japanese rod that needs a new top eye. But I'm scared to do the replacement myself.

Meet, I do it on the daily.

Fix the top eye? uhhhh, been doing it since I was 4. Uncle and I built custom poles since I could walk. Hit the top with a torch for a second or two, then pull off the old one. If it is already broken off, then just heat up some of the rod repair glue, and put it on the tip of the naked pole, push the new tip on. DONE>

So what you're saying is: I'll need to find a top eye that fits, and then get some rod repair glue, and bring burgers over to your house?

    Incoming long reply!

Basically Toyota decided it was a great idea to put a steel bolt inside of a steel bushing sleeve and put it near the bottom of the truck. Also, the alignment tabs are steel on steel frame.

Basically what causes them to seize is rust and a lack of grease. Some folks never experience problems, some, like me, need to just beat the hell out of it with a BFH and they come loose, otherwise, you have to either cut the bolt out, remove the bushing( or replace the LCA), or just live with it.

There are no easy solutions to this problem and unfortunately mine will rust back up again over time. The only true solution I have seen are the Total Chaos stock-length LCAs. They put a zerk fitting and put channels in the bushing that allow grease to work in there to prevent them from seizing. Also, they make gusseted alignment tabs that are stronger and I'm sure their finish is more resistant to rust.

    Just some food for thought.

    Hi Nick,
Yeah, I'm still happy with the rack I had built, finally got my RTT mounted a couple weeks ago and it's working out great. Only problem with the shop I had build mine is they're almost 2 hours away.

I'm going to do the same thing, and also do the compartments in the bed. But I haven't found the locks yet. I want to make sure they are not going to rust in the bed.

I did the locks for my bed compartments. There's a little bit of rust on the front of the cylinder but a spray of penetrating oil every few months keeps the lock from seizing.

Took about an hour to get the old knobs out, and trim the doors for the new locks.

Thanks Skygear – was thinking corded and possibly get some use out of the outlet in the bed. J The guy in the write up says a dremel is your best friend in this project.

The guy in the write up is pretty happy with his so I went and bought a 5/8 inch lock the other day (he says no bigger than 1/2 but my store was out of those) and tried to position it around to get an idea of how it would fit. With the “bent” latch mine needs to be placed very close to the top of the console and doesn’t leave enough room for one of the plates that fits inside the nut against the plastic when you set the lock up. It doesn’t look as low as his did and worried without that plate it would just constantly loosen up every time I hit a bump in the road. Just trying to get my head around how this will fit.

Anyway, if any of you are interested in doing this (Frogsauce, Skygear,) I’ll bring the beer and the drill just tell me when and where. He also said it took him about an hour.

Yeah man, I am down for working on whatever. I am doing the full 60k maintenance service on my truck this weekend though.

I am wondering if the locks for RVs and Trailers would be more weather resistant?

Something like this (but maybe 1/2 inch):
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0024E6RZ2/ref=asc_df_B0024E6RZ22563389?smid=AK5EA8E3B8D7

    EDIT: Just found this:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/100361-bed-storage-locks-full-diy-write-up.html

Looks like 5/8" will do it. And probably 5/8" for the center console too. Need matching key numbers all around though...

The bed lock write up looks great. Thanks for sharing. I guess I'll hold off this weekend and get another lock (hopefully with matching keys) for the door next to the outlet and do them both at the same time. Let me know your schedules next weekend if you are still up for helping out. Appreciate the offer so far.
