'09 Tacoma Both DRL (day.run.lts.) lenses melted and cracked

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone else have this problem? The truck only has 14K and stays in a carport when not being driven.
My guess is that the DLR bulbs are too high wattage and the heat from them caused the problem.
To fix do I have to replace the complete light assembly :-(( or is the DRL lens a separate part?
I checked for a TSB and found nothing.

Lots of people have the problem, there is a thread floating around for you to call corporate Toyota to file a complaint, the more complaints the more likely they are to issue a TSB. Unfortuneately if you are out of warranty there is little you can do besides buy new headlights.

You can crack open the headlights and replace the lens if you can get ahold of the lens. It may be easier to just replace the entire headlight

I don't normally say this but do a search on this with the search button at the top. There are countless numbers of threads on this very issue. It is a common problem.

There is a TSB for it now .. oh sigh.

I've been driving tacomas for 21 years...none of this stuff phases me .LOL

you can replace just the lense but you have to open the headlight assembly, there are several howto's on heating them in the oven to open them up. i already gave away my driverside headlight assembly, but i did have the passenger side still if you want it you can have it, its from my 2005, i attached pics of just the lense to show you it is a replacable part. maybe find someone locally or ask people on forum who has a cracked assembly and is planning to change thiers and ask if you can have the lense. hope that helps.
