Im not sure why there is hesitation about using the bed bolts. They are just a bolt. Any they bolt through a mount that is designed to be strong. 6 of those mounts and bolts hold the entire bed to the truck (and whatever is strapped/secured to the bed) so I think you'd be just fine. Don't be scared of the Torx head. :D

i looked at the truck and on the one side i would have to drop my gas tank. im not going to carry a lot. so i just drilled holes on the side of the bed in the back where i could get to easy. if i carry any thing big or heavy i will use my trailer.

I'm guessing you have a DCSB. I had the same dilemma when trying to figure out where to mount my tie down track. Up near the drain holes where I wanted was a no go lol, and I didn't want them mounted on the side of the wheel wells. Ended up with this:

Bed bolts thread into a nut that attached you do not need to access it for bed bolt removal. Just remove the bolt from the bed and use desired D-ring.

Only typical issue is on older trucks in areas with corrosion. Mine were not fun and I replaced two of them after using a pipe wrench to remove after the torx stripped out when it half way out.

I have those as well as D rings under the bed bolts. I have used the bed dolts far more often.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
exactly... no issues with using the bolts.

My buddy's '09 access cab came from the dealer with additional d-rings installed
    here.

I purchased a second set of Toyota d-rings to mount under my front bed bolts. They came with similar instructions for mounting to the side of the bed. I have had zero problems with using the bed bolts for mounting over nearly 75k of miles.

Feel like I committed a small sin today but I think it'll pay off. Went to the dodge dealership and ordered the previously mentioned dodge d-rings. They were on $5, even the parts guys was shocked at how cheap they were! So they're cheaper there instead of havin I pay for shippin online. Only downside is they don't keep them in stock but sense they'll be here tomorrow by 1030 I did to think that was bad!

haha, just posted to you in the shoe creek thread about this. But, ya, $5 each. The ones you'd found were about $3.50 plus shipping right?
