I too have been to the Far Side of the Moon. Take into account the climate and conditions. We would have to remove the air cleaners every single day to dump the dust and sand out. Plus you have to look at the morons driving them over there. Most couldn't rub to sticks together without fucking it up, or trying to kill you with them.

Thank you for being reasonable. I am not stupid about Tacoma to the point that I don't recognize Tacomas for their place but it wasn't designed for what a Jeep was. Its like saying a pontoon boat is as fast as a speed boat, they have totally different purposes pontoons carry mass people and let you enjoy the road, a speed boat goes fast as shit and makes you visit the chiropractor after. Differnt designs for differnt reasons.

yeah well jeeps and tacomas are in a complete different class, you came here for a truck that has a point to be functional! you can get a 6ft bed in the double cab witch is the biggest bed there is for the tacoma! witch means you can haul your items around for working on your house or put your atv back there...as for the resale value, you have a point but if something happens you want to sell im positive you will get your money back out of your truck! I paid $10,000 for mine and it is a 2006 and i could probably easily get $15,000 out of it right now! im no good at selling things but i promise if you go the tacoma rout you wont look back!!

LOL, my wife mentioned that today. She said 8 out of 10 jeeps are now driven by women. Not that it's a bad thing. Just an observation.

DCSB is more like the CJ-8 or Scrambler of the jeep world.

I appreciate your post here. I can say that where I am I don't need the extra weight of the truck off road. I'm looking for an everyday hauler. I'll stick with my Jeep in narrow passes in the ADK and my area. I'm not knocking Tacomas just stating that they aren't ment for the same thing as a Jeep. So shit broke on a Jeep? Who's fault was that? Like you said 90% driver right? Trucks are not designed for the same thing period. It may be growing fast but its behind the curb.
Resale value is not so much about what it would be worth if you wanted to sell it. resale value has to do with several factors:

• Longevity
• Dependability
• Cost of repairs
• Reliability
• Demand
and others. Demand is a big factor. People really want these trucks. So they retain value longer. So why care about resale? Simple, it shows you that the Tacoma is a popular and reliable truck, because everyone wants on. Also, in the off chance that you decide to sell it, or TRADE it for a newer Tacoma, you have a lot more equity.

I used to be in the Jeep world. What happened? I saw the truth and have never turned back.
Wrangler has beaten Tacoma as much as Tacoma has for resale. I get that much, I don't like to get rid of vehicles. I like to keep them till dead. I had a 1986 Nissan King cab till 2 years ago, I used to play bumper trucks with it and I couldn't kill it. I gave it to a local farmer to haul hay after it couldn't pass inspection.

Thank you for being reasonable at least, now tell me more why I want a Tacoma please not just that I want one. Resale or not I want to know the pros vs other small trucks, or even full size.

I find it hard to believe anything Chrysler makes is the icon of anything. AMC FTW.

Good, so we agree....having owned Jeeps in the past...jeeps are no longer jeeps but someone's impression of what a jeep should be. Good luck with your findings.

No worries. But parts breaking were not due to driver in my past. Jeeps are notorious for breaking parts. Especially the new ones. Now give me an older, CJ5 (that isn't rusting) and I will rock that jeep on the trail and not break. But the newer trucks I personally have observed the Jeeps break more. Just like you defend the Jeep, you have to expect that if you come to a Tacoma forum, we are going to defend our trucks. And I have outwheeled a few Jeeps that were built, with good drivers.

Of course the big deal here is the ability to haul something. That is something the Jeep SERIOUSLY lacks in. That alone is enough of a sell.

I will say this. Instead of a battle between which is better, let us simply look at the mid-sized truck market. The competitors are (Including several year models, and up to 2015)

1. Toyota Tacoma
2. Nissan Frontier
3. GM Canyon/Colorado
4. Ford Ranger
5. Dodge Dakota
When you look at them, since 1995 only TWO have still been produced: Tacoma and Frontier. Now when you compare the two of them you will see that the Tacoma is the winner by a landslide. So maybe that information will be what you need to decide on a mid size pickup truck.
