Installing an oil catch can/tank is a fairly common mod and there are a couple of threads with pics and instructions. I thought it might be useful for those who have installed them to post a pic or two in a single thread so others can compare what's been done and get ideas of what they'd like to do on their own.

Here's a couple of pics of mine. I used one of these units from eBay:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADD-W1-Poli...Parts_Accessories&hash=item19e1643307&vxp=mtr

They have them in several colors but "black" is inexplicably more expensive than the others. It's a very nice unit with a lower tank that spins on like an oil filter and is sealed with an "O" ring. It's also baffled and comes with a length of hose the type that most people throw out. Instead of a sight tube, it has a screw in dip stick and in general I'm impressed with the engineering that went into it. I made a simple bracket from a flat piece of steel stock and mounted it using two existing threaded holes on the inside of the fender. It's not overly obtrusive in the engine compartment and doesn't attract many comments, which is okay with me.

Your methods may vary, so give us a look.

inesshell, your unit looks like a model related to mine (with the external vent port on top), but I can't tell from your pics what you mounted it to. Also, your outlet line has a pretty serious kink in it. How often do you empty yours and how significant is the accumulation?

To address the size question, The one I have is 250cc's and it doesn't fill up between oil changes. My engine isn't supercharged and I didn't see a need for a liter size tank.

i made a custom L mount out of some leftover alum and mounted it to the fuse box mount. Its mounted like this because ive already used the fender mounts for the 2nd fuse box. It is a PITA when i need to remove the can. I generally have to remove the catch from the bracket.

I noticed the outlet and straightened it out. Not significant accumulation. I will change every oil change.

1of7627, did you by chance remember what size bolts you used for the existing threaded holes? I'm thinking it's m8.
Even being in Canada, it's impossible to get metric bolts unless you goto a specialty store, unfortunately I can't get to them during the day and they close weekends, so I'm forced to order from McMaster Carr.

I think they're M12's. I'll check when I get home and let you know for sure.

An oil catch can? It's basically an oil separator that removes excess oil from blowby gasses before they're routed back to the engine intake. Search this forum using the key words "oil catch can" and you'll find numerous threads on the subject.

Or, you can read this install guide for a primer:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/231227-oil-catch-can-install-guide.html

There are lots of ways you can go. Some have made their own very economically. Others have bought units with prices varying from little to lots.

Basically so your engine isn't burning oil? Is this specifically 2nd gen, or 1st gen too?

Bump. Can someone with a 3rd gen (2012 - 2014, or 2013 preferred) please post some pics of mounting the can and routing of the hoses? Trying to figure out options for my can.

    Thx!

There is no 3rd gen... yet.

You have a 2nd gen. '12+, only have a new grille, front bumper, and lights. Sorry to burst your bubble. :(
