The proper and only way to test for bad universal joints is with the driveshaft removed . You cant tell if the universal joints are seized or tight spots with the driveshaft on the truck . You may see play in the universal joints , but you wont be able to properly check the u-joints without removing the driveshaft .All it takes to create a vibration is one seized universal cup and there are 4 cups within each joint .
With this said , you cant tell if that cup is seized with the driveshaft connected .
Removing the driveshaft and manipulate each universal joint by hand from side to side feeling for tight spots as you go
If you beleive its bad motor mounts or transmission mounts , grab a big pry bar and pry at the mounts to see if the rubber is torn or weak .

Possibly. I think the carrier bearing is more likely. I can replace it myself but I don't have the necessary tools with me to do it.

Does the truck vibrate in park or neutral and does the vibration change with accelarator pedal ? Only vibrates while driving at the speeds stated in OP. Vibration gets worse when on the gas pedal.
Does the truck vibrate while holding the brakes and hitting the gas - Automatic ? Haven't tried that yet.
Does the truck vibrate in neutral at a stand still ?or coasting in neutral ? No
Does the truck vibrate in 4x4 ? Haven't tried yet
Does the truck only vibrate in 2 wheel drive ? Yes
Does the truck vibrate with the serpentine belt removed ? Haven't tried it
Does the truck vibrate cold or hot ? Both
Does the truck vibrate if you select nuetral and coast to a slow roll without using the brakes ? Haven't tried it
Does the truck vibrate as you are braking ? Only while in the speed ranges stated in OP
Does the truck vibrate with weight in the truck or empty ? With mild weight
Does the truck vibrate while upshifting ? Have you checked your trans fluid ? Shifting doesn't seem to be an issue.
Does the truck vibrate while downshifting ? Have you checked your trans fluid ? Shifting doesn't seem to be an issue.
When was your last transmission fluid service ? I changed the fluid about 30K miles ago.
Now that you have a lift kit installed the truck vibrates . Did you cancel your drive line angles ? I've always had a lift and always had the takeoff shudder but this new vibration is acute with no obvious provocation.
Have you looked at the condition of your tires ? Toyota says to rotate every 5000 miles .Tacoma tires must be road forced balanced using the Haweka adapter on the tire machine Tires are BRAND NEW and just had them rebalanced today.
When was the last time you rotated your tires ? They are new so this is unnecessary.
Have the balance weights fallen off the tires ? Ruled out today

I think this is the next step to do.

No problem, someone else did all the work. Just copied from sticky. If not this probably take driveshaft off to check u-joints.

So the carrier bearing doesn't appear to have any tears or other obvious compromises. I am able to move it but only about 1/2" total. Is that considered a lot of slop? Maybe I should just replace it anyway?

Also, I didn't find any welds or spots where a weight would have been on the drive shafts. Is it possible that there were never any weights to begin with?

    From all info I tried to get from Toyota just for the center/carrier bearing specs. Toyota could provide none as far as that goes so it is assumed good unless boot is torn now dry/frozen up/intermittent squeals/etc;

You mentioned squeaking when in reverse, hows the U joints ?? I'm thinking maybe does it ever sound like a piece of wire wrapped around the drive shaft when moving ? & sounds like your describing somw axle wrap too, stock springs ? Or ?

Before you spend any cash or jump to a conclusion , try and rule out the driveline .
The questions I posted are generic to any rear wheel drive vehicle
Take the driveshaft off and check your universal joints first .Its not difficult to pop the driveshaft off and check the u-joints for stiffness .At the same time ,spin the carrier bearing feeling for rough spots.
From the questions you did answer , the universal joints sound like they may be your issue .
You have a few unanswered questions that are easy to follow just by driving the truck and its going to help figure out whats going on .
Start with running the truck up to speed , turn the truck off and coast in neutral until your are almost stopped . Do not use the brakes .
Did the truck vibrate as you coasted ?
If the truck vibrates as you accelerate which we know it does , coasting should also create vibrations . If your truck vibrates as you coast without touching the brakes , you have a bad universal joint somewhere in your driveline .

U-joints sounding likely. 1/2" play not terrible.

Well I haven't pulled the driveshaft off to check them but I crawled under the truck yesterday and had my wife drive it forwards and backwards about 5" both ways as I looked at the U-joints. None of them appeared to have any excess movement and I couldn't hear the squeaking sound I mentioned before. As for axel wrap, I'm not entirely sure I understand what it is even though I've read a few threads on it. BUT, when my wife was moving the truck back and forth, I noticed the axel rotated a few degrees when the truck was put into drive, followed immediately by a "clunk" sound from (I think) the Differential. Then when she put it in reverse, the axel rotated a few degrees in the opposite direction, I think it rotated forwards/pinion down this time, with the "clunk" again. I'm sitting on factory springs that are pretty tired, 170,xxx miles on them.

I haven't been able to pull the driveshaft off yet and not sure I'll be able to do it myself due to a lack of the necessary tools. Sort of a noob question here but when you mention turning the truck off and coasting to a stop with no brakes, is this safe to do in an automatic???

^^^^^^ when you bring your truck into a garage , this test is used to diagnose the vibration and is perfectly safe to perform on an automatic . You could also leave the truck running and coast in nuetral . Turning the truck off in neutral while coasting eliminates any possibilty of your engine causing the vibration .

The carrier bearing should have some play and I think yours is normal. I checked mine the other day and it has about 1/2" play as well. I think hat you don't want is a carrier bearing that is very easy to move and very sloppy, or if you can hear some clanking. Like I said, mine has some play but still feels solid

Gotcha. I'll give it a shot when I get home today. Thanks for your help!

Ok good. Mine is pretty much how you just stated yours is. I should probably still check it for a any binding or tight spots in the rotation though, ya?

I had a problem with vibration at 60-70mph after rotate and balance. After 3 tries at balancing them they had to take all weights off, break the tires from the rims, rotate the tires on the rims then rebalance with the road force system. Still not 100% clear but way better. I'm running Goodyear Wranglers. Does anyone know if this is common with these tires?

They had to do the same thing on the 1st r and b at 5000 miles. Don't have a clue as to why it has to be done. When they tried balancing the first time the machine said all was good, took it out and vibration was there. Brought it back to rebalance and the machine had them way out of balance. Broke them down, rotated on rims, rebalnced and all was good. Would love to know why?
